This illustrates several things to me- firstly, rather than pay the proper amount which would have left him with a measly £23.3 million, he went for über greed, the cunt. Secondly, the stubborn refusal of these privately-educated pricks to realise that when they go up against the British public, they will come up against savant-levels of expertise and biblical vindictiveness6 points

We’ve just broken the record for our longest unbeaten run in the top flight, we’re third , we drew 0-0 away to a decent side and one of them came in here to take the piss. There’s your mackem logic there. They’re 12th in the division below as it stands5 points

Its not one of their kids so they don't give a fuck. Same as them lasses groomed in Rotherham and Rochdale. Did fuck all. If it had been some lasses at Oxbridge or St Andrew etc they would be all over it. Utter utter CUNTS.4 points

He transferred the shares to an offshore company owned by his dad. If that's "careless" then the definition is bollocks. Imagine if burglars weren't charged if they just gave the stuff back? It fucking stinks.4 points

You have to feel for them, having to put up with a billion pound stadium, owner putting in £150m of his own money last summer and appointing a world class manager. They don’t deserve such treatment, they really don’t.4 points

There is delusion, and then there is insanity. I watched bits and actually thought some of their overlapping play was okay and the second goal was well taken. But the overall quality from both sides was light years behind the Premiership, let alone the top 4 teams. Oh well, Fulham should be a cinch!3 points

irrespective of any other team adjustments, we’re still creating plenty of good chances, the top and bottom of it is, we aren’t taking them.3 points

Very glass half full that, even to the extent you censored out our league cup win over Premiership opponents. The time to start worrying is when you don't create the chances. And when you start leaking goals. Neither of which has happened. I'd much rather be drawing games than losing them. We drew most our games at the start of the season, then started winning. We're in another phase of drawing. We'll start winning again soon imo. We won't be overtaken imo.3 points

Aye what’s the point in trying to build a great squad if we only play players due to ‘loyalty’. We play to win surely, it’s not about sentimentality . Folk were howling at Southgate for the loyalty thing.3 points

I’ve been impressed with ASM’s cameos. He’s working hard to make an impression and is pushing for a start alongside Isak. I would be tempted to rotate Wilson for Isak and Willock or Longstaff for ASM. Big Joe back in LCM doesn’t necessarily weaken us defensively as he can still help Burn out from that position.3 points

They call us lucky! Fucking Stewart dives with minimal contact, outside the box. Borough have a man sent off, pelanlty awarded. Pelanty saved but Stewart gets the rebound. Lucky, lucky bastards! First time I have watched Sunderland this year. I cant tell if I'm watching a dire second tier game on a freezing NE day or watching the Brazil 1970 side in the Maracana.3 points

I don't think that Howe will have reached the point where he's questioning his loyalty to the starting XI that has largely got us to this point in the season. Isak would be closer to starting than ASM as I see it as nothing would be lost in terms of defensive effort. But I think Wilson will be shown loyalty for his early season form (and probably rightly so at this stage). Howe has said that he's mindful that Wilson has lacked training ground time in recent months owing to the WC and the illness he had when he returned from Qatar. I think this is a hint that Howe backs Wilson to get a goal and get back to his early season form. I think that Wilson deserves such a show of faith for previous performances. I especially don't think we'll see ASM into the starting lineup away from home in such an important game. Howe talks a lot about 'not disrupting the balance of the side' when it comes to making changes and I think this largely relates to his view that it isn't worth sacrificing our defensive shape and workrate for a more aggressive formation or the introduction of the flair of ASM (at least not yet) and I tend to agree with him. The return leg at home may be another story, especially if we need a win. The players that have been starting have earned Howe's patience and loyalty. And I would argue they've earned the same from us as supporters. We're third in the league for crying out loud with a team that is playing above themselves and playing largely without support from a full squad given the lack of depth that we have in the 25-man group. I think solidarity with the starting XI is the best course of action at the moment.3 points

Popes signing is as important to this team as Trippier, Botman or Bruno. Absolute bargain.3 points

Gotta love Spurs fans. 5th in the league FFS . They are a 5th-10th team if ever seen one. Poch had them punching above their weight but other than that, they are where they belong.3 points

Football team playing their first choice defence and keeper is definitely a shocker . In fact it reminds me a lot of when Liverpool played Allison, Alexander Arnold, Van Dijk, Gomez, and Robertson in nearly all their games in a season and won the league, or Manchester United playing Van Der Saar, Neville, Ferdinand, Vidic, and Evra, what the fuck do they witter on about stuff like that for?3 points

That was the type of save that's so good it feels like we've scored. Absolutely amazing that he even got a hand to it let alone a solid enough touch to nick it over the bar. He's such a quality keeper. Full credit to Brucey for recommending the signing to the former Bournemouth manager.3 points

I suppose you have to reuctantly tip your hat a bit to arteta, the transformation in the 8 months since we battered them a sjp and them bottling qualifying for the champions league last season is quire impressive really. I'd also say that the atmosphere at the emirates earlier this month was a million miles better than anything I ever witnessed at highbury in many visits there. still think there's a reasonable chance they'll blow it mind, but barring a miracle where we catch them up, I'd think I probably prefer them to win the title than man city again.2 points

Result indeed. Sounds more enjoyable than the skiing if you ask me. I've somehow still avoided it. Fuck knows how. Missus and all four kids have had it, sake for my extended family and my main social circle all got it pretty fucking bad at a party I also attended. Guessing I've had it and was one of the lucky fuckers that was either symptomless or wrote off the symptoms as the usual mild to moderate hangover.2 points

Fair enough. But I'm not suggesting that a supporter wanting to see Isak start at Southampton should be deemed to be displaying disloyalty to Wilson. A supporter can want anything they like and I can certainly understand why some may want to see Isak get a start without it being necessarily a condemnation of Wilson's performances or ability. I think you might be suggesting (or at least suggesting that I think) that a failure to show loyalty constitutes a display of disloyalty. I don't think that at all. It isn't really a binary operation as I conceive of it. What I am saying is: I think Wilson deserves a show of faith. If he doesn't get that it does not necessarily constitute a show of a lack of faith instead but rather simply a lack of a show of faith. Anyway, splitting hairs perhaps but words are important and annoyingly imprecise.2 points

I had 5 Live on in the car earlier. Top two stories on the news were Johnson getting helped with a loan by a bloke who two months later he appointed as Chairman of the BBC, and Big Nads Zahawi "carelessly but not deliberately" forgetting to pay over £3m in tax. Corrupt as fuck.2 points

Is it a major worry? We’re sitting in third, dominating games, could have a few more points on the board if not for some missed chances. We’re still not conceding goals let alone losing games and we’re in the semis of the league cup. Life is good 👍🏼2 points

Plus wages off the books and money towards his replacement as well as creating a space in the squad numbers. Sharp as a blob of porridge is Merson, Boyd and crew.2 points

that and the fact that every single one of them declared pope wasn't fit to lace the boots of the mackem t-rex, trippier was finished, botman was off to milan then when he didn't it was because he was shite, schar they'd never heard of and burn couldn't get in to the team at mid table brighton. just another in a long list of examples where their bizarre and twisted mackem logic comes back and well truly bites them on the arse.2 points

Not only is this making up of scenarios utterly mental, but why bother obsessing over our back line? I can honestly only name one player from their team - Luke O’Nien if he’s still there - because he appeared in the two or three episodes of STID I’ve watched. I haven’t a clue who their GK or defenders are. I also have no idea about their defensive stats nor do I give a shit. I find it really weird this is a talking point for some of them.2 points

Aye, we'll see who's laughing after those loan deals for Pope, Trippier and Botman end. Oh, wait....2 points

Finished watching the replay after getting my much-needed beauty sleep. Honestly not disappointed with a 0-0 as I would've taken it before the game. Palace, as a solid counter-attacking side, seem to me the type of team we're going to struggle to beat at the moment. We certainly had enough chances to win the game and were wasteful again in front of goal. But then we could've easily lost the game as Palace had the best chance only to be denied by a stellar save by Pope. 0-0 still extends our lead over 5th to 6 points so I'm happy with that. A lot of sides will come to Palace and struggle to get a result. I think they're a good side and Viera organises his team well. The studio commentators for the Australian feed are complete wombats. Sherwood going on about Newcastle supporters being demanding and wanting to win the league already as we're impatient. The cunt is completely clueless. The main studio bitch reckoned this might be the 'best opportunity we get to finish in the Top 4'. Honestly, where do they find these people? We've been taken over by the PIF, mole, this is undoubtedly the first and least likely opportunity for us to finish in the top 4. We were wasteful in front of goal tonight but defended well and created a lot of chances. Story of the last few weeks really as Wilson is struggling for a goal and is looking rather isolated at times in attack. I think once we solidify the midfield with a quality 6 to add extra defensive oomph then we may see ASM or Isak starting alongside Wilson. We've looked good with ASM on the field in the last few weeks (less so tonight) adding something extra to the mix as it does seem like Trippier and Almiron get more space on the right when ASM is on the field on the left. All-in-all a solid performance. The players will be disappointed and rightfully so given the standards that have been set by them in recent times, but I'm not too disappointed personally. I'm happy with the effort in defence. It's just that little bit of quality and luck in attack that we're lacking at the moment. Wilson needs a goal. He's come back from the WC a little out of sorts. One goal and he'll be off and running again.2 points

Really should have won this but finishing was below par. Good safe from Pope considering he had fuck all else to do. It was not the best match but thank fuck we didn’t lose as Palace is only about 12 miles from where I live. I would have got some stick but a draw means no bragging rights.2 points

I would give Isak a start. He surely as enough fitness now?2 points

Also Leeds worked hard as fuck to stop us and tbf deserved a point. Let's not get entitled to points i.e Liverpool fans. Palace worked hard too tonight.2 points

I know what you’re saying but objectively we’re a work in progress. Howe took the decision to sort the defence first and that’s why we are where we are imo. That said, given the chance we have for a CL spot, I would go all out to get Maddison here at this point.2 points
