Loads to be happy about man. I thought we would get beat even at full strength. We were some way off full strength and we came within 2 additional minutes of a draw where for most of the game we looked pretty comfortable. Early days but Isak looks like he will adjust to the league no bother and he's already got the first goal monkey off his back. We were a couple of better subs away from a result at Anfield last night. And it's transfer deadline day and we'll be doing everything we can to strengthen further. Let Liverpool enjoy their win. They're on a downward trajectory and we're on the up. Klopp knows it and he'll be away eventually which will only accelerate their decline. I look forward to Howe turning them down to stay at NUFC.10 points

You need to give us some parameters, like those two Tory Twats Phil and Kirsty… ” Cressida is 25 and writes horoscopes for Pugs, Angus is 26 and makes Artisan Welsh Love Spoons from baked seaweed. They have a loose budget of £10million, and want a minimum of 8 bedrooms, three bathrooms, a large, combined kitchen/microbrewery and a three bed granny flat. They want a rural retreat within easy reach of Dublin and Latvia, and they’d prefer the property to made from crushed biscuits and gravel.”8 points

Aye, even the BT commentators broke their legally binding obligation and stated that the Anfield atmosphere was completely flat. Ultimately we lost the match by very small margins. If Isak is a couple of inches further back we go 2 up (and Bet365 pay out on my bet ), if the ref isn't dodgy as fuck then he blows up before giving them another chance to score, if ASM was fit then he would have received those balls late on rather than Murphy etc. We gave them a proper game last night which is the first time we can say we've done that at Anfield in a long time. Liverpool aren't the sort of team we're going to be competing with in the league this season so we can take a lot of heart from a good performance.8 points

Remember we talk some days ago about Bamba Dieng????? OK: This is O Marseille player. This morning, he agreed to join Lorient.... And this afternoon, he decided to move on Fulham. In the french airport.... He had some talks with OGC NICE members.... and he decided to move NICE. 30 minutes ago, he has failed the medicals with Nice, and looks like he will return to Marseille.7 points

Game plan worked for most of the match. Despite the claims, we weren't time wasting from the off, we posed some real problems for one of the supposed title challengers, we played some good stuff at times and all that. When we needed to make substitutes because our legs were going, the standard we were able to bring on wasn't very good and we needed to resort to more and more time-wasting tactics. Nowt wrong with that at all, but the narrative is shifting from us making a game of it for large parts of the match, to Liverpool battering us for 90 minutes and us time wasting the whole game. This just isn't the case at all. The notion that the game plan backfired suggests a different plan would have provided a better result. That trying to out football Liverpool with our second string would have seen us come away with anything other than an absolute shellacking. Bournemouth tried to play football, look what that got them. In recent history we've had two conflicting game plans against the big boys; Benitez' stifling anti-football stuff (although I'm a fan of that level of organisation and game management). Bruce's 'Get the ball to Maxi' and hope and pray. The latter would have seen us battered, the former would likely have seen us get late in the game before conceding, but losing nonetheless. I prefer Howe's approach.7 points

Scouse epitomize the sentiment of the "Top 6" exclusivity and sense of entitlement associated with the "institutions" of English football. As though beating them is some personal affront to their promised inheritance at the top of the pyramid. Liverpool haven't earned shit except our collective disdain. Our team being booed by that lot is to be worn as a badge of honour. We're under their skin already and we haven't even started yet. This is going to be a wonderful ride.7 points

I've just watched Howe's press conference and he couldn't be more professional and decent. Asked about the needle between the benches: "I couldn't tell you, I was focused on what was going on on the pitch" Asked about the extra time: "I'd need somebody else to guide me. From our point of view the whistle seemed like it would never come but because of that it's our job to defend until it does" Compare that to Klopp and his triumphalism and comments about time wasting. He's an absolute fucking smoker.6 points

If you've got pots of cash, you could massively overpay for my parents place in Seaton Sluice to help them have the kind of retirement they deserve. And if you can do that, why wouldn't you? Why would you deny two absolute legends happiness? Are you so broken by the hate-filled South that you care nothing for the elderly? You make me sick.6 points

Had to be a safety first approach if he's picked up a niggle as Billy Whitehurst throwback Wood was never going to be able to stretch them and give some relief, Murphy who has got the legs was even worse in my view as he has two options when getting the ball, keep possession then find a shirt that isn't red or carry it but he does neither. We were magnificent first half at keeping possession with not a trace of panic and it's so refreshing to see when playing the likes of these or Man City. Time took it's toll and the fresh legs required just didn't have the guile to go with it. As has been said, the scorn, relief and celebration at the end is a sign that the days of handing out toffee to us before patting us on the head after a comfortable 3-0 win are in the past now.6 points

It's not the actual time that bothers me it's how it's applied differently according to the teams and situation. I remember two examples from 95/96 - when we lost 1-0 to Man Utd at home the whistle went 30 seconds after the 90th minute as that score was "correct" but when they were trailing 1-0 at QPR it was fine for Cantona to equalise after 5 o clock. If they'd scored last night in the 89th minute there would have been 3 minutes at most put up and even a player dying with full last rites being applied on the pitch wouldn't have delayed the whistle at that mark by a nanosecond.5 points

Unbelievably successful couple of transfer windows no matter what happens today When we got Trippier I thought we were in dreamland, but Bruno and Isak are off the charts5 points

Aye, outside of our starting XI we have very little quality. What is encouraging though is that those who do come in can play with the same system and have similar levels of intensity. The stand ins might not be as good but they've been coached just as well and understand their roles which is a credit to Howe.5 points

I'm not as worried about the fatigue stuff. It's only that tiring a style when you're giving the opposition 70% possession. And there's only 2 or 3 teams in the division where that'll be the case. When we take an even or better share of the ball, which will be most matches, the fatigue will be much less of an issue. Also 5 subs and ultimately improving our squad so we can swap out on a more like for like basis will help too. We've played Man City and Liverpool in the space of 3 league matches, so it's just on your mind more now.5 points

The scouse vitriol in the Guardian comments is delicious because we all know it is actually borne out of fear. They’ve had it good for so long and yet they still whined about how bad things were/are. CL wins, Europa league, even winning the PL and the scouse still think they are hard done by. A little success, a glimmer of hope for a club that has been starved of anything for near on 75 years in cups and 100 years in the league - and it’s all sportswashing or “sweet justice” scoring a winner with the last kick of the magical extra time! Fuck’em all. We just need close the shutters to the comments and enjoy the ride.5 points

I still think people should be focusing on how close we came to quite comfortably dispatching them on their home turf with a second string team, rather than the fact we lost in the final moments. It's not like it was a boring game either, Klopp himself is apparently going to remember it for years to come4 points

Probably semi-rural with nice views, has to be walking distance to a pub. Children will need schools I suppose. Maybe a bit of land for the lass’s (future) horse. I’ll need a ketamine shed, obviously.4 points

I think it’s interesting that our two best performances this season have been v the two best teams in the league. Basically they gave us room behind them & down their flanks to attack, Wolves & Brighton didn’t… that tempo is terrific but it gets disrupted when teams sit in. A couple of more windows and we might have the players to play a pressing game and keep possession better v massed defences4 points

I was livid last night but in reality them getting the goal when they did is probably fine. It's never been a game where things are measured to the exact second. They probably got 40 or 50 seconds more than they should. We should stop moaning and instead focus on how fucking ecstatic that whole ground was to nick a winner against a club they've not had to give a second thought to for decades. Once Dr Teeth goes, they're gonna be scratting around for a replacement who won't be as good.3 points

I've found a full match reply online this morning and watched back the section on added on time to see what the milestones were: 92:30 - Pope went down under the challenge from Van Dijk 94:05 - Play resumed (95 seconds) 96:35 - Ball went out for the final corner (95 +96s) 97:02 - Corner taken 97:09 - Goal scored. So it's reasonable to accept we were still in time up until that final corner was awarded. Marriner has done what almost any referee would do and allow that corner to be taken. Let's face it, if it had been at the other end and he'd have blown up before it was taken, we'd have gone nuts. They could also debate that Pope took 40 seconds to take a goal kick in added on time. Looking objectively, I think we WERE trying to waste time, and we shouldn't be ashamed of that - we had an understrength team at Anfield on the verge of securing a draw. If we weren't trying to kill time then I've got questions about our fitness with the amount of cramp going on. I think the gameplan from the moment Liverpool equalised was to go for the draw - no coincidence in my mind that Isak & Fraser who had been our best attacking threats came off within 3 minutes. The VAR call was really tight and open to interpretation - we're all looking at the feet but it's clear Isak's upper body would be considered offside. Some clarity and consistency is required however we've benefitted from 3 VAR calls this season (Miggy goal & Trippier foul v Man City; Wolves disallowed goal). You win some, you lose some. We have to accept that we switched off and weren't as savvy in added on time than we should have been. It's a horrific pill to swallow - a draw would have been a fair result but the 'we were absolutely robbed' mantra is neither accurate, nor makes us look good. The one thing I do thing was disgraceful was the antics of the Liverpool bench following their winner. Absolutely unnecessary.3 points
