looks a canny prospect. I reckon we should offer £35m for him and if that fails up to £40m with a few add ons.5 points

Its not helped this year with having the WC part way through the season either. We have to remind ourselves where we have come in such a short space of time.5 points

I cannot believe people are upset. We have signed an improved keeper and a major upgrade at centre back which has longevity. The left back position is also a bonus. Looking back to January, we signed Trippier, Burn and Bruno. Last summer we went the full way to sign Willock. What is sad is that was actually quite a successful window all things considered. I wish people would stop and have a think. We are not in the Chapions League, we are not in Europe at all. We have a cap due to FFP. We have no recent history of success and we lost out to PSG on the striker who looked set to sign. If I was a young French player, am I going to want to go to NUFC as it is now or go to PSG and learn from the calibre of player they have now? I think (some) need a bit of perspective. We are not at the level of Manchester City and they couldn't sign Kane. It wasn't that much more to get there man last summer but the difference wasn't right for them. I don't think us stepping back from deals due to the financial situation will or should change as we move on to higher levels of success (I think we will pay more in the future but this will match the standard of player). I want us to be sensible with our money not end up like Everton.4 points

Schools, all NHS, all other emergency service premises . They’ll all very likely be fixed, but if/when those deals end they’re screwed…. people who can’t afford to heat their homes whilst in work will be made redundant, that’s when I think we’ll see proper anger. Labours plan to freeze current tariffs for 6 months will cost half of the entire bill for Sunak’s 18 month furlough scheme & that’s just for domestic users. We’ve not started paying back what we borrowed from the markets to finance furlough, T&T, the bounce back loan fraud etc etc…. we’re obviously not alone in this but as far as I can make out this country is in a great deal of trouble4 points

"So how did Steve Barnes, the great looking and intelligent ex footballer turned manager, turned Sherlock Holmes super sleuth work out who the sexual deviant was with a penchin, err, a pension, err, a habit of sticking fruit up his jacksy, Lee?" "Lemon entry, wor kid, I mean, my dear, Steven, lemon entry! Lol! Laters captain. Off for a few moretti in my toon territory." "Good idea, slaphead. After half an hour working on this fucking book I'm going to need another holiday. But don't tell the chairman!"4 points

Fucking Paqueta man Not been linked with him all Summer other than by Sean Casey and the like. We are arguing the toss over £5mil and trying to stagger payments for the players we are interested in, yet people think we are going to pull £40-50mil out of our arse on deadline day for Paqueta!3 points

If I'm truly honest, I think we've been extremely lucky at this stage of the project to capture the likes of Trippier, Bruno & Botman. The problem is, it's set a level of expectation with many in our fan base but the reality is we've attracted them to a mid-table club that's as far away from London as you can get in the PL and we've done so without the prospect of European football. To all the numbskulls out there this summer moaning, they instead ought to be commending the owners for getting them in rather than complaining we won't give into the extortionate demands of overly greedy players and agents. I'm fairly convinced we will sign more players before the window closes and it'll be frustrating if we don't, but even if that does come to be, we need to maintain some perspective. It certainly won't have been a case that we can question the effort to sign players and we do need to keep mindful of the excellent progress we have made in a relatively short space of time. The likes of Botman and Bruno will expect CL football and if we continue on the same trajectory, they will get it with us.3 points

My lass was supposed to be leaving teaching this year, but the thing she was leaving to do involves her renting some shop space. The people she's renting off own the whole property (house and shop) - they live in the house - and I think they're on a domestic tariff for the whole thing. But I can't get a straight answer out of them - they're off the charts disorganised and not really dialled in to stuff like this. I've explained there's no cap on business tariffs but they're still on the tail end of a fixed deal so I don't think they realise that all this is coming to them too. Anyway I think the decision to quit teaching has been at least delayed until we know exactly what the situation is and what it does to her rent. It might just make her business unviable and she'll have to stay with teaching for a bit. Not intended as a sob story btw. I'm incredibly fortunate to be able to weather this and she's fortunate to be able to make a decision in the knowledge that she has secure employment. Although what the fuck this is going to do to school heating bills isn't getting talked about much either. I've heard talk of three day weeks for kids.3 points

Even our fans were moaning about the trains. Unfortunately we are the mercy of one of the most incompetent train operators in Southern. When I used to use them I'd hang back, have a beer or two then saunter down straight onto a train back to Brighton. Now I get a door-to-door coach to one of my favourite micropubs in Hove. I'm usually supping at 10 to 6 on a 3pm ko. As regards the match I thoroughly enjoyed it for a 0-0.i thought the Albion should have taken all 3 points but I get that you will be annoyed at the scratching off of your 'goal'. I put that down to the new 'higher threshold' nonsense instructed to referees. I didn't see much in it to be honest (after seeing it on MotD) A decent contest but United still aren't the finished article by a long chalk and it shows (not in a really bad way, just that we know what's coming) I'm happy with our progress, we play some lovely stuff at times - a real joy to watch. I don't think we missed the to big sales either. Things are looking good for us. Still dreaming of trips to Germany, Spain or Italy without the missus 🤣 All the best for the rest of the season2 points

I was listening to a podcast recently that reckoned Forest's contribution from the EFL last season would have been about £6m. That's scandalous when you think what the parachuted clubs get. I hope they stop up and I hope Leeds stop up again. Fuck Everton and Southampton off back to the Championship.2 points

I'd like them to stay up. They basically had to do this to have any hope of making a go of it. I hope it works or they're fucked.2 points

£100m? Yeah, and the rest. Forget about the footballing side of things, selling Bruno would be disastrous optics.2 points

One thing no one is talking about is the affect on business energy bills. If a company is not on a fixed rate there’s no price cap, meaning that where domestic users are looking at around 400% increase business users are going to be >1000%. This winter is going to be carnage, even compared with the lack of help SME’s got during lockdown. The tories will get crucified but am not sure if that automatically brings Labour back.. people are waking up to the point that 40 years of government basically contracting out fuckin everything has lead to this situation and voting for anyone is unlikely to change anything…2 points

I'm with Octopus Energy and I was just looking at their website. They've got a Balance Forecast tool that allows you to mess about with your DD and see where your balance will end up based on projected usage. It has this "crystal ball" feature which you can turn on and it will apply uplifts to your tariff based on current projections. My DD needs to go from £252 a month to £477 a month for me to end up with the same balance after 12 months that I would without the price increase. And this factors in the effect of the £400 that the govt has already handed out. It's fucking outrageous. This will ruin a lot of people financially and that fat blond cunt who desperately wanted to stay on as PM has used the extra time he bought himself to have parties and go on holiday. If this doesn't end the country's stockholm syndrome relationship with these cunts, nothing will.2 points

There's 3 key drivers for why decent players will want to join a particular club Wages To play in a specific competition (i.e. champions league) To play their part in building a project We've made it clear, and rightly so that we're not going to pay over the odds for any mercenaries which rules out the first point. I think it's probably the reason why we (and West Ham for that matter) walked away from signing Lingard. We're not currently in a position to offer the second point, which leaves us with the third. And the players that fall into that bracket are somewhat niche. They're basically committing themselves to a project for the medium to long term which means they're less likely to be there to reap the benefits of it. Look at Trippier for instance - soon to be 32. If we do get to the levels we aspire to then he's not likely to be still playing for us when we do. Takes a very selfless individual to commit to that endeavour. There'll be plenty of players 'tripping over themselves to join the club', but these are neither the type of players we want, nor need.2 points

Maybe even stick Wood up front with Wilson and drop Miggy too. Then we have two half decent options off the bench in Miggy and ASM2 points

Aye Haaland looks the real deal unfortunately, I'd imagine he'd be like Shearer and dig you with his elbow 10 minutes later. I fully expect us to lose this one but hopefully we can contain them and at least get a goal and match them for periods.2 points

Was just thinking after reading that Barnes and Ryder should collaborate on a novel. I’m thinking Toon foot soldier and NUFC manager solving homicide cases in their spare time. Or something like that. I’ll leave the details to the experts2 points
