Big Ron was the manager at Sheff wed when I played my first season there, 97 I think. We played our matches at the training ground and occasionally the first team would be there if they didn’t have a game. He would take training in them cotton shorts from the 60’s that went past your knee and all his gold jewellery on. He sometimes came to watch the kids teams play, there was two pitches side by side so he could stand in the middle and watch both games. He would keep the shorts and gold on, but put a fir coat on and flirt with the mams.4 points

It may only be 3 stops and 8 minutes but don't leave it too tight for time. Drink in one of the pubs near the station and try to keep an eye on the queue. This is a big game against a popular opponent (I can't think of better away fans to be honest) The, sun will be out so Brighton will be heaving. I'm genuinely excited about this match, I think it will be close, probably a draw but a win a win by a single goal otherwise. Like many of you I don't think you're there where you want to be yet. You need another couple of windows for Ashworth & Co to work their magic. I truly hope you make it and break the cartel up a bit. For us we hope for a steady progression that hopefully will lead to a cup win or something to give us, a European tour (I haven't got thst long left for goodness sake 😊) I hope those coming down enjoy the day at the seaside and hate the 90mind at the Amex. See you at SJP next year, can't wait4 points

An update. I feel so fortunate. Back at home with the family, had a very long and frank discussion with Mrs Rents. She'll continue supporting me as long as I don't drink, which is obviously fair enough. It's a week now since my last alcoholic drink, and believe me that is my last. The acomprosate helps a lot, it has entirely stopped any desire for drink at all, bit of a miracle drug tbh. Strange as it seems, I think my recent alcoholism is a symptom not a cause of my problems. But regardless, it clearly will fuck my life anyway. Abrupt cessation of my antidepressants was the most stupid thing I have ever done and I think precipitated this crash. I need treatment for my anxiety and depression, especially the former. I will see the GP next week to discuss options. Other than that I have a one to one meeting with an alcohol recovery specialist next week, see how that goes. Work have been amazing. As well as giving me this week off to recover, they have offered part time working and even a sabbatical if I need it. I will repay them with full commitment from now on. Best of all is I'm going on holiday to Mallorca in 2 weeks. Drinking is always part of the holiday for me and I always feel ill for at least 1 day. I am literally looking forward to the liberation of not drinking at all this time, no hangovers, more energy for the kids and wife. I know it will be hard but with the acomprosate I'll get through. Can't wait to swim in the Med. Also my uncle is coming down from Scotland to talk with me today. We are like peas in a pod, same genetics definitely. He had to stop drinking around my age for the exact same reasons. He's been alcohol free for more than a decade now, hasn't stopped him enjoying life. Going to gratefully receive any wisdom he can impart. Onwards and upwards from now. I need some hobbies so might ask CT for advice there. key priority though when I get back from hols is to get fit. I'm starting from a good place ironically because the hospital did every check imaginable on all my organ systems and wouldn't discharge me until they were satisfied I was fully physically fit. So I got a free MOT courtesy of the NHS. Once again, thanks everybody here for your support, helped me through the darkest period of my life.3 points

He could be doing vlogs from the end of his bed in his dressing gown, like Big Ron did for the world Cup after he'd been sacked from ITV for doing a racism.2 points

Indeed we were poor results-wise at home last season. We were getting sucker punched repeatedly after really wasting chance after chance. Burnley was the worst - Burnley, I ask you. But Potter has stuck to his beliefs and we look decent now. As has been said we are a very good passing side. We'll miss Cucarella but have options. I loved Bissouma, I could watch him all day but his form was up and down last season. We have Caciedo and Mwepu now who no doubt the big clubs will have already checked out. We are decent defensively and don't normally ship cheap goals. There is still a worry about scoring yet Welbeck has been a revelation. What he could have achieved at Old Trafford with decent fitness. A top player. Another hard season ahead but I'm looking forward to it with my eyes more looking up the table than down now. Only time will tell if my hopes have been misplaced2 points

Top Man Rents. I've had a chequered history with the demon drink, amongst other things and you've inspired to move down that sober path again2 points

Reading that has literally cheered my whole day up Renton, just seeing you bounce back to some positivity after all that shit. It didn't kill you, so it will make you stronger. Good luck with all of it.2 points

Kind of day where we could be happy for 5 subs tbh. Wonder if Howe will be tempted to keep Almiron on the bench until late on to give us 20 minutes or so of him against hot, tired defenders. Having 5 subs could well help us keep the press going for the full 90 too if you keep Murphy, Anderson and the other mobile players in reserve1 point

WTF. Some account called ToonPolls is behind it and... has somehow persuaded several large international companies to tweet his name?? Why1 point

Grand to hear all that, Renton. Hope you have a great holiday and it feels like the dawn of a new age for you. I'm not saying "Renton vs. Gemmill parkrun-off", but we all want to see it1 point

Selling him to a rival too. I would like to see what he could do aboard. My boss who's a city fan says he's superb and frustrating as fuck but would rather have him than not.1 point
