At my Dad’s funeral, because we followed the rules in place at the time, we were allowed 15 people inside for the service. That meant that not all of his family could attend- some of his elder grandchildren volunteered to stay outside so that the younger ones could attend. I was full of admiration for them then, but I’m fucking raging now, because we were played.… us and hundreds of thousands of other families who had to make the same incredibly hard decisions, and those who weren’t allowed to be present with their loved ones in their last moments. My dad refused to go in to hospital at the end for that very reason - he didn’t want to die alone. It came at a cost, as his last days were, frankly, fucking horrendous, but he had his family with him when he went. I know Renton wasn’t able to be with his sister when she passed away, because he followed the rules like the rest of us, as hard as that was to do. The fact Johnson hasn’t got the fucking honour or courage to stand down from his position now that he’s been exposed is no surprise at all, but it doesn’t stop my incandescent anger at him and his sycophantic cronies- I’ll never forget this, and I sincerely hope nobody else who was made a mug by him does either. I wish only the worst of everything for him.8 points

Them being bezzies with Millwall and Feyenoord is like a wannabe hard lad but soft as shite kid knocking about with the bullies oblivious to the fact nobody takes any of them seriously.5 points

Now that the season was over, Barnes was ready for the interview. The Mail had been canny to him over the years, supportive when many were not and always happy to courier round the reddies. 8 grand this time, not as much as when he was in the Prem, but still this would sort out the repairs to the waterbed and renew the cheese subscription.5 points

His own son went looking for fights on Twitter ffs. The ‘abuse’ claims were bollocks at the time and still are. He’ll have copped a bit but he got off lightly as we’ve mentioned as the stadiums were empty. And the pressure of the job impacting family etc comes with the territory. It always has. If he was that bothered he’d pack in, given he’s made fucking fortunes whilst stealing a living. First chance he got he was in another job5 points

btw very convenient Bruce doing this stupid interview and Shearer bigging him up at the same time. Is Luke Edwards going to write a piece about how Bruce should shut the fuck up as he’s no longer manager so should move on?5 points

I'm not really that interested in politics, to be honest. Maybe I used to be, but not so much now. Nothing to do with me.5 points

I think he wants to be liked and accepted by the NUFC fan base and is living in splendid denial of the fact it's never going to happen.5 points

I don't believe he was that ill at all, he certainly wasn't gravely ill - i.e. never intubated etc. Was all exaggerated. Tom asked me in another thread "why do I hate this country" I don't (although I've never really looked at our history as "glorious") but I fucking despise what Johnson, Farage etc. have made it become. Appealed to the prejudices of the lowest common denominator, and sadly there are fucking millions of them.5 points

Lol @ Villa signing the players we wanted for survival to try and kick into the top 6. Nice effort. And us stumping up for the compo for Ashworth is a case where we had to blink eventually. Putting Howe in that would-be DoF position all summer is asking for him to burnout4 points

Shearer used to drive from Darras Hall to Wideopen so he could get his sister’s staff discount at Victoria Wines. Tight as a bad chest. He most have driven past about 10 shops selling booze in the process. His sister is his fucking double btw. Even had the same haircut he had before he started going Vera Lynn.4 points

The safest option with Shearer is just to ignore everything other than his performances on the pitch. He's a fairly poor pundit who trots out the same shit as everyone else and is by many accounts, a bit of a twat off the field.4 points

Yeah but they're all the same, Renton. I'm not really that into politics. I used to be, around 2017/2019 (I'm not sure which), but it's all a bit old hat now.4 points

I doubt he even believes it. It’s just part of the PR for when he’s looking for another job in 6 months4 points

The rank arrogance of the man to think that, in a few years time we're going to look back at Bruce's tenure with anything but disdain. Like, when we're likely watching our team play successful football, with maybe a trophy in the cabinet or one on the horizon, we're going to elbow our mate in the ribs and say "Hey, couldn't have done it without Brucey, eh?" Fucking deluded bellend.4 points

Johnson’s clearly misled Parliament. It’s not even a matter of debate. So it looks like he’s going for the Harry Redknapp defence, ie he’s stupid and didn’t realise so it wasn’t intentional. It pretty much ruled the former out of the running for the England job but it’s ok for the country’s PM?4 points

I honestly wish that he had died when he got covid. The fact he got it, was seriously ill (although this was probably exaggerated), and then still acts like this just makes it even worse. And I hate the fact he has made me feel like this, I'm not naturally inclined to wish ill on anyone. As you say, thing is this is something that will never go away whilst he is PM. It's a festering wound and there are millions of us. It's fucked uip the mental health of millions, me included. We can't move on. The country can never be at peace with itself with this odious divisive cunt as PM. The country will in fact break up as a result, literally. This is what I don't get about his supporters. Can they not see this? Do they simply not care, despite calling themselves unionists? Is their short term gains worth the destruction of the country? Makes me hate all his supporters even more.4 points

The fucking state of the Villa fans in the comments on this post man. Genuinely thinking they’re beating us to signing players, in reality they’ve not beaten us to a single one Digne our lot didn’t like his attitude so moved on, Coutinho we were never in for, Kamara despite the bloke making the fucking ludicrous claim he’s “one of the best young players in Europe” our scouts reported he was a good player in his role but limited and knew he’d cost more than we valued him at so again we weren’t in for him (worth noting they were the only club that offered him a deal and they still paid mental money), Carlos we’ve long moved on from. The state of them bringing up their “project” and draw of Gerrard as well we’re being talked about by agents and players as the next Manchester City, meanwhile they finished fucking 14th - their project is to be the next Everton.4 points

If someone on here once praised Hartlepool United I could get on to a poolie I know and tell him to look toontastic up so he can have a look and get all warm and glowing inside. He could maybe mention it to his fellow monkey hangers? Nobody mentioned Darlo but I'll lie and I'll tell him we don't like them as they're not as classy as Hartlepool as that'll please him I'm sure? Ah the life of a mackem, they're fucking deranged, man. *I don't know any poolies.4 points

Being coached and conditioned properly too perhaps. That said, while it has been better, his league appearances under Howe at bournemouth weren't perfect either so I think its fair to say he is just injury prone4 points

But lads, how can we ever forget Think you’re all being ungrateful, he almost signed a player that’s doing really well. Highly unlikely he’d have been this good in Bruce’s “system” with his lack of training but we should now thank him for nearly transfers.3 points

Ahh the good old days. I remember a party in the office where we replaced the water in the water cooler with white wine. Beer and spirts galore. Boss puked up everywhere and passed out, comatose, had to be dragged out the building. The next day I remember decanting the wine from the cooler and chucking it, with the worst hangover ever. Somehow the wine fucked the cooler mechanism, the guy sent over to fix it was completely scoobied as to why. Sound like a no. 10 party in retrospect.3 points

He had three years to do something about that- bit late now Steven.3 points

Same in just about any organisation. But most pissed I have ever been was at an office party which started at 09:30 (never touched Southern Comfort since). It was Christmas 1979 mind.3 points

Aye there's no doubt he's misled parliament and there are a few that have stuck their head above the parapet today and said exactly that: I'm submitting a letter because he lied to parliament. So the genie is out of the bottle now,we have a PM that lies to parliament and his own party recognise that. Now it's just down to whether the modern Conservative party thinks that that's OK. So far it seems like they do.3 points

Aye he’s class. I remember someone making the point that he might be less prone to injury if there’s someone he’s actually competing with for the role, as if ever there’s games where he’s not fully fit he won’t have to be risked like he has been.3 points
-
Wilsons finishing and movement in the box are absolutely top class. Wish he could stay fit, he'd score loads in this team if he could.3 points

Just to add. Cronyism in football, at the highest level, just seems fully acceptable by the media. It fucking stinks.3 points

Remember those 2-3 weeks post takeover he remained where the pundits were all adamant that he deserved a chance, and then when they decided it was obvious the owners would replace him they began to say it was a hugely disrespectful to have Bruce do his job while the owners figured things out . It simply wasn’t fair to Bruce as it was embarrassing him having to do what he was paid for (or pretend he was doing what he was paid for) when everyone knew it was temporary. The fucking mental gymnastics the pundits leap through to support this shambles of a bloke. It’s always also worth noting he was an even bigger disgrace post takeover iirc, they trained (somehow) less than before the takeover and he just completely gave up on the games he managed. He’s a fucking disgrace tbh, I’m still shocked West Brom hired him.3 points
