I enjoyed his overtly political views about football until they were about us.5 points

I think I’m struggling. My dads death has hit me harder than I thought, and at random times. Im having a hard time dealing with the fact I might need to move back to boro to look after my seriously disabled brother, I moved away from that shit hole for a reason. I don’t want to put him in a home when my mam dies, but I don’t want to move back either. I have built a life here and it’s probably selfish but I don’t want to leave it to care for someone who with all the will in the world might not even recognise me. How is someone meant to weigh these decisions up man?5 points

Has to be said like, I never would have believed that the season after we went down to much amusement at their end, the universe would bitch slap them so hard they would fall right through the championship and into 4(+?) seasons in League One4 points

Aye. Can’t watch anything about the bloke, in any other industry would be treated a damaged genius. Music has loads. So does film. The fact he was in football meant he was in a regular remit for scum reporters which didn’t help with what was obvious mental health problems. He could have been so much more but he did incredibly well to be what he was imo.4 points

I’m also pretty sure Staveley has already stated that her aim is to step back from the day-to-day running once the right people are in place, so it’ll be no surprise to anyone except the Morlocks, tearing the neck off it at the speed of light, when it happens. I hope this becomes their next “truth”, as it’ll make the despair of another season in Division 3 even greater when, like every other “truth” they tell themselves, it doesn’t happen. ( There’s multiple accounts of medieval towns being overcome by “dancing fever”, a form of mass hysteria- I wonder if RTG and it’s noncesense is like a modern day version of it… they all get carried away with it, it spreads like crabs at a mackem family reunion, and they’re a medieval town?)2 points

So is it sportswashing, or an investment to make money? I also enjoy that “the mags are adamant PIF are” and investment fund, I mean those two words are in the name of the thing. Thick as pig shit. No clue whatsoever what that jlaws point is. They’re a £700B (that’s only liquid funds iirc) fund who have effectively spent £1.3B on a football club, a notoriously hard thing to turn a profit on. How would we ever be sold at a profit unless we are one of the elite sides? And to get there they’d have to spend a fortune which makes profit even less likely. They can keep making up scenarios but the real reason they bought the club is staring them in the face. If they wanted profit they could have put £1.3B into Google shares ahead of the split.2 points

Just watched the first episode, it wasn't the one I'd already seen, was far better but obviously not great to watch in another sense.2 points

Their natural home is being mediocre/average in the 2nd Division. PL and 3rd division seasons are outliers but I'll accept it if they want to change and become a perennial 3rd/2nd leyague yo-yo club.2 points

The flukey twats have won another game in injury time. They will still drop to 7th if Sheff Wed win tomorrow. Hanging onto the playoffs by their fingernails2 points

Can she at least wait until after the days we're already getting off on her account? 🤞2 points

I think the saddest thing about the 350m bus thing was that the people who bought it actually believed a tory government would spend it if it was true.2 points

Cheers lads. It’s good to be able to vent sometimes. My mother isn’t ill, but she is pushing 70 so won’t be around for ever. We have appropriate care for my brother, I sorted that prior to dads death as my mam can’t handle it on her own. He lives in my mam and dads house that we kitted out with an annex to suit his needs (hoist/wet room etc), and I directly employed 3 carers using his independence benefits that come 3 times a day. My current plan is to leave him in that house with live in care eventually but then I will just worry I’m relying on people doing what they say they will do when I’m not there. Things will settle down when I can think about everything properly2 points

Sorry again for your loss mate. i don’t think that sounds selfish at all. we all want the best for our family but your brother isn’t your responsibility and you shouldn’t feel at all guilty for not wanting to give up your life to look after him. That would be an unbelievably selfless thing to do. I agree with Andrew that moving him somewhere near you is probably the best solution for you both. Good luck navigating this period. Things will get better2 points

Sorry to hear this strawb. I don't really have anything to add to what others have said, but definitely speak to a professional who can help you with this. Both from a care point of view for your brother, and from the point of view of your own mental health. And don't feel bad about feeling "selfish". Anyone would be feeling the same as you. It's an incredible amount to ask/expect of someone and you need someone to help you navigate it all and come to the right answer for you as well as your brother.2 points

I wish I could help you, mate. Hopefully you can find a middle path or have a word with some professionals who isn't your mam for advice and guidance regarding your brother as you obviously want what's best for you both. Hope you find a way.2 points

Truth is it doesn't even need a comeback. They need every scintilla of relief from their continual suffering, if that's feeling smug about our former owner's mismanagement then so be it.1 point

Pretty much pours cold water over the story about a £60m budget as he surely won’t go for much less than that - what’s he worth, £40-50m?1 point

If, by some miracle, they got promoted to Div 2 this year, it’d just mean we get to laugh even harder as they spend a season getting completely humped by the entire division, then getting relegated just after Christmas. They’re fucked, whatever happens1 point

Dyche did an unbelievable job there. Deserved to leave on his own terms. Burnley may sink like a stone now1 point

I get your point, but I think they're a day late and a dollar short. When we drafted Benitez in I think it was early March and Shearer was announced on April 1st ("8 games and 8 games only.") and both those were too late for the bounce. I might be wrong, but I reckon Everton will view these events with a wry smile rather than any form of fear.1 point

I would like to see what Dyche could do at a club with some money1 point

They've been using the club's money to pay off the debt that they got themselves into to buy it too. They're in a proper state by the sound of it, having been run really responsibly for years.1 point

The solution is obvious, let people claim asylum before passaging the channel. But there's no facility to do this. So instead they have to risk their lives and are deemed "illegal". It's ridiculous this is hardly ever discussed, at least Sarah Vine has a go here I suppose.1 point
