Incredible incredible stuff! You have to hand it to Howe and the team. Funny what a bit of positivity can do. We've all rightly had a go at many of these players but they've been transformed recently. WTF was Bruce doing to them exactly? Also love how hush the media is about this. We were supposed to be the richest club that ever went down. "Newcastle win again" squeezed in a little corner on the football page. It's a miraculous turn around you sour little pricks and if it was any other club you'd be wanking yourself silly over it.9 points

I’m assuming he is talking on behalf of a group (a cabal if you will) of Gary’s. It’s a brilliant chant Gary’s and will be considered for selection.8 points

Spurs fans were desperate for the Saudis to buy them. Before the sanctions all of the blue ticks were saying PIF should ditch Newcastle and buy Chelsea. Fuck them.7 points

Kuper is talking out his arse. As Alex said this isn’t a punishment by football it’s a government sanction that happens to impact football, at no point did any footballing body show any sign whatsoever that they were going to move against Abramovich. Additionally, this is whataboutism and I’m fairly sure Kuper was one of those that accused Newcastle fans of it. He’s also pathetically downplaying who Abramovich is. His proximity to Putin isn’t some “no enemies” approach, how else would a man who made his wealth by essentially stealing from Russia during the breakdown of the USSR keep that money and be allowed to be anywhere near Russia by a man who wants to rebuild the very thing Abramovich (and other Oligarchs) siphoning helped break apart? There are other Oligarchs who didn’t end up like Abramovich and the others we see because they wouldn’t cosy up to Putin and do his bidding. His company’s help produce the tanks currently invading Ukraine, he was a Governor in Russia, he’s helped fund separatist movements that have led to this Ukraine conflict iirc. Painting him as some jolly bloke who just wants to be friendly with everyone and avoid any bother, but unfortunately has just been caught up in this is incredibly deceptive and undermines Kupers point. Saying all that it doesn’t really matter since his entire point is moot anyway, this wasn’t done by any footballing authority so there’s no hypocrisy from that standpoint. The issue was and always has been allowing fucking scum like Abramovich in, this twisting on and saying which one is worse is a needless and absurd point. It’s just a thinly veiled attempt to have a go at our ownership from a tedious cunt iyam. Our owners are fucking scum, that point is abundantly clear and I’m more than fine with them being discussed in a “none of these scumbags should own clubs” context but they don’t need to be compared to Abramovich, there’s no acceptable level to me to the type of people being discussed.7 points

Learn fuckin what you pair of jumped up fuckin scrotes? I take no lessons from those so clearly lacking in their own command of both the descriptive power of the English language and their ability to comprehend the basic tenets and customs of the national game that they have to resort to a raft of stats to prove moot and irrelevant points and to invent a new fuckin language to describe it7 points

We've been on an amazing run but unfortunately I believe that's all it is, a very good run. We've seen that Eddie Howe can organise a team and more importantly how he can motivate and improve players. But looking at our last two performances you can see how much it's taken out of the team. They've looked tired and I'm not sure how much further this purple patch will continue, especially given some of the fixtures we have coming up. There's no way the current squad can keep up the same level over 38 games. If this is how we're going to play (and I certainly hope it is) then there's going to have to be much more squad rotation over the course of a season. Howe has tried to keep playing the same side as much as he possibly could and midfield aside that's because he has had to rather than wanted to. If you look at our bench last night it was pretty shit, made up largely of players we had in the Championship who should be nowhere near the first team. The squad still requires a massive overhaul and there's obviously a risk attached to that. So with a good window I could see us challenging for the Europa League spot but I'd be more than happy with a top half finish next year.7 points

From Southampton's forum, post-match: I’ve seen some nasty teams over my time but they must be the shittiest, most despicable bunch of cheats I’ve ever had the misfortune to witness. The main positive I took from tonight was that Newcastle's destined journey to the summit of European football is going to take about 200 years on that showing. For the money spent, they are all over the show. Cunts cunts cunts cunts cunts cunts cunts. Dirty fucking cheating cunts. So y'know, they took it well The second comment there is interesting though as there were a few variations of it, and it got me thinking that clearly a number of fans of other clubs really pay no attention to us at all. That's fine, I couldn't name most of Southampton's first team either tbh - but a lot of them genuinely do seem to think we went out and spent £90m to buy a completely new team that is meant to be playing like a side competing for CL places - and that we have therefore failed, because "we look pretty shite". They're in for a rude awakening next season I think.6 points

"Hello?.......Hello?......is that Sting's record company office? Ah'm heeya to pass on amnestey international's phone numbba to Sting. What? Ah'm a massive lads fan and ah think Sting needs to phone up amnestey international and pay the refund to them, cash money, like, so ah'm giving ya their numbba for him to ring them. Then he can ring me. Cheers, marra. FTM."6 points

Exactly - Tango skinned two headed vermin cunt stitched us up good and proper. Compounded by Andy Durso refereeing the match appallingly and not giving a blatant foul in the run up to the winner. That cost us a very slim outside chance of winning the league.6 points

It was in 1908 and we won the fucking league that year - a price worth paying I think. If we do win the league in the next ten years however I do know it probably won't involve playing them and it certainly won't involve losing 9-1.6 points

Wow, we started the season with hardly a post in the actual footballing bit in here. Now, it's back to buzzing and I must say, I have a right laugh reading some of the posts. So, just shows how far we have come in such a short space. A thank you to those making me laugh too. I am disappointed with the title, but I didn't want to get Andrew or Tom into a legal battle The start of the season we didn't win in 11 under Brewcie. Now we are 9 games unbeaten (10 if you include the Saudi Friendly ). The last two games we haven't been at the races for large parts but have taken three points. That's something we haven't done in decades! Fucking amazing. Sunday though is a different beast. They're an injured animal and prior to the freezing of stuff they're a top team anyways. If we maintain our undefeated run I would be absolutely buzzing. CT though, still shitting his pants at us going down. Mandy, thank you for your beautiful Brazilian 💖5 points

exactly that. I know I posted this link months ago but out of curiosity I just gave it a revisit..... https://m.facebook.com/WearsideAmnesty/ three weeks after our takeover when the mackems were bordering on apoplectic with regard to human rights violations and writing en masse to amongst others sting, mother teresa, ghandi and nelson mandela to get it revoked. meanwhile amnesty international (wearside branch) were holding a meeting about human rights issues in football ownership. it got ONE like and NO comments. fast forward to the end of febuary and wearside amnesty hold a meeting about the much more specific saudi ownership of NUFC. despite literally tens and tens of thousands of rtg posts on the mass slaughter of children in yemen, people being hurled from buildings at rate resembling lemmings from cliff tops, sportwashing and the labeling of anyone with even a passing intetest in newcastle united as a murder sympathiser this new meeting raised 2 likes and 1 comment. I'm starting to get very slightly suspicious too that despite all their angst and revulsion what they're really bothered about is us having a decent football team.5 points

This is the thing though, right- they're hoping Saudi Arabia gets sanctioned because of the impact it'll have on us. Not because of the Yemeni people suffering and dying - who they clearly couldn't give a shit about - but because of football. The fucking cunts man So classy though..5 points

Also if we’re going to change legislation to stop owners like the Saudis, is there any ‘moral’ argument as to why it should only apply to football and nothing else? I’m pretty sure it would be impossible to make any legal arguments on that basis too. If we’re going to go down the route of the huge social revolution that removing all the dirty money from our country would entail then I’m all ears. Otherwise, fuck right off, as you’re the fucking hypocrites5 points

I was just reading the Guardian's match report on this, or the comments at least, and the sheer number of removed comments from Southampton fans is actually quite stunning. We have no long lasting grudge with Southampton do we? I don't understand why everyone has gotten so worked up about this game, other than that they've all been drinking the same koolaid as their manager. Would we give a shit about this if the tables were turned? Honestly I do think that there are a lot of clubs and fans in the league who aren't mentally prepared for us to be a good team again. It's going to be fun to watch5 points

What boils my piss somewhat is the Chelsea ownership was barely an issue before the recent events (certainly compared to our ownership) and suddenly our ownership is relevant again too. It’s opportunistic bollocks imo. Driven by jealousy more than anything else5 points

Miami or Dubai being considered for another warm weather training camp in the next break apparently. Think CT mentioned something similar. The Chelsea lads will be looking on with envy from Butlins.5 points

Worth noting here that Fraser looked a very tricky attacking player before he joined us (pre injuries) and since Howe arrived he has been one of our best players. Longstaff looked a real prospect under Rafa, had an injury and was trash under Bruce. Krafth was signed by Bruce. My point is that we shouldn't assume that these players are not good enough based off their previous record, particularly those under Bruce, and I'd not consider them grafters. Of course we want to sign players of the highest pedigree in the same vein as Bruno and Trippier but we should also be looking to reward our own players for their performances. On the surface some may say Wood's scoring record since arriving is poor, but he has fought hard the entire time he's been on the pitch and I only recall two or three clearcut chances that he could have scored in games before tonight. Considering how well he has fit into the team is also a factor - something that all of the new signings have done so well. But yes, I think we should be aiming to compete for a European spot next season. Achieving it will call for a deeper squad providing opportunity for the best of the incumbents to keep a role in the squad. Exciting times.5 points
