I was admittedly underwhelmed by the appointment of Howe but, on reflection, reeled my over expectant heed in. What the fuck did we expect? We all wanted a big name, instant hard ons for that insipid cunt Emery (me included btw), some mention Ragnerock (aye great job at the Manc twats so far) and a few others. We were all giddy with the utter unexpected/unbelievableness of our new situation and all that. Let’s reflect on Kenny Dalglish, big name, guaranteed success….. Aye right. Eddie Howe has been fucking tremendous since he came in, his professionalism, work ethic, apparent ambition, media savvy, honesty, drive…. I could go on. And that’s not even me licking his hoop…. Just my honest appraisal. Christ the bloke is only 44 and has been a manager for 13 or 14 years. Some say he was a tad slow in changing the results around. Aye, agreed. I was similarly underwhelmed by his appointment but he’s doing a good job so far, and is a really likeable bloke. He’s also clearly knows what a big chance this is for him, as well as us, so he’s working his bollocks off and putting everything into the role. He of course has a long way to go to reach the level of manager for where our owners want the club to be, but the same can be said for the entire club, he’s young and I think he has shown he’s improving (we’re showing more defensive solidarity than his Bournemouth sides). Traditionally recruitment has been the thing leveled at him as a negative, and now seemingly that’s been taken out of his hands to a degree meaning he can focus on coaching. I’d personally love to have a manager grow with the club as we go on to win things, hopefully it’s him.

Aye that’s it, how would a court ever uphold an agreement that was essentially worthless? He clearly entered into that clause in bad faith by presenting it as a sponsorship when it absolutely was not, the new owners accepted at face value that it was a sponsorship (no matter how low paid) with the little due diligence Ashley allowed them and then discovered in actuality there was no sponsorship. So either, as Craig noted, there was a contract that had payment stipulations and by not paying it the sponsor was in breach, or he misrepresented the use of signage as a sponsorship. The comments from her that he’s alleging are insulting towards him btw he’s pathetic. I hope she counter sues and they proceed to employ some forensic accountants to go through the entirety of his ownership to find any other misrepresentations he’s made and sue the cunt for those as well.

I’d say, as long as Howe has us steadily climbing the table over the next few years while Ashworth sorts the dreck out at every other level, he’ll be comfortable in his job for a while yet. It’ll only be when the club should convincingly be challenging for Europe and having cup runs that the real pressure on him will kick in and that’s when you can start judging him alongside the likes of Keegan and Robson who delivered consistent quality at the top end. For now, Howe looks a world above shite like McClaren, Bruce and Carver and that’s what matters for us in the short term.
