Right so we are playing Muller off Chris Wood, Guimeraes with Shelvey in CM and a back line with Dan Burns in it. That would be EXACTLY the eclectic mix of ability levels I hoped to see in the early days of this new ownership.9 points

Seems like a novel idea for a podcast. Discussing players they’ve heard of but haven’t seen play. “So when did you first hear about this player?” “Just before, when you mentioned him”7 points

I see the issue with Bruno like this. In the long negotiations with Diego Carlos, in the end many things are discussed. Many players. When it was seen that the path with Diego Carlos could not be done, Newcastle will have asked (or the agents will have offered) other players on their list of representatives: In this case, Bruno. So, the club and agents see that they have spent too much time talking about a transfer that has not been made (Diego Carlos) and they think that they cannot waste time, and they end up making another agreement that sometimes is beneficial for everyone, or sometimes it is just to take the commissions and not have wasted time. For example, these agents also have an Atlético de Madrid player on their payroll: Felipe Monteiro. While they were negotiating with Atlético to renew the player... Atlético signs Matheus Cunha, who is also from the same agency. And they have more players who have been involved in Atlético. In fact, Atlético had a preferential option for Bruno Guimaraes in 2019... And they had closed another player from this same agency, Everton (former Gremio player), but could not sign him due to the non-EU limit. That said, I think Bruno could be a very good player to play the rest of the season at center alongside Shelvey and Joelinton in the middle. He has good ball handling and is very intelligent, although he still lacks some physicality.6 points

Wood & Burn in the same transfer window? Fuck me, I know we need to be on fire the 2nd half of this season but they're taking it a bit too literal ...5 points

I am finding myself, more and more, with each passing day and the monotonous failed bids, drawn inexorably towards team pissy pants, at my age that is not a good place to be 😔5 points

We're discussing options and working on it at the moment. Probably officially announce something in a couple of days5 points

Regarding the running costs. Would it be worth setting up some sort of monthly / annual subscription? Not suggesting it should be mandatory but I wouldn’t mind contributing. I don’t see why one or two individuals should be picking up the bill. I know Ant didn’t mind but I think it was c. £30 a month. Part of the update including removing software not being used where the licence fees were going up. So Ant’s work has stopped that but it’s still something where the costs should be spread out a bit imo5 points

Apologies I didn't say this yesterday but I'm not sure it was ever acknowledged just how much Ant did for this place, he took over the reins when I couldn't hack it any more and turned this place around technically...obviously the quality of the posts went downhill but thats everyone else's fault not (just) Ant's and was probably down to me not being around more than anything.4 points

contrary to popular belief, i'm actually feeling quite zen. the selling clubs know they have us over a barrel and will leave it till the eleventh hour to extract as much gold as possible. i still see us signing three players before the window closes - probably in the final 24 hours or so. if i'm wrong and we don't, then...4 points

They're probably shitting their pants over us so want us down.4 points

Keep Lascelles out the team and I think we will just scrape home as is. He is the difference between a proud willy waved aloft and a sopping, salty undercarriage.4 points
