  1. I think we all know who we really have to thank.....

  2. For fear of using hyperbole.... I can't remember the last time I saw a more complete midfield performance for NUFC.

  3. the transformation of the joelinton I watched under bruce against tottenham to the one I watched last night just over 2 months later is nothing short of fucking astonishing. I have nothing other than the utmost respect for both howe and the lad himself for achieving this.

  4. Seems almost certain that Southampton will be postponed too, given it's only three days later. Be class if we've got some new signings by the time we play next.

  7. All down to the laziness of Steve Bruce. You could forgive that bloke just not being very good as a manager, but he was bone fucking idle too. Just picking up a wage, fully bought into the Ashley dream of 17th spot and nothing more. Having a £40m player turn up at the club and taking zero interest in where best to deploy him. Just a giant cunt of a man.

  8. Checked his timeline and he's been moaning about every postponement as they happened. He was right every time until now. Now he can fuck off.

  9. Hasnt literally every other club in the division had at least one game called off? Whose money bought those?! Other clubs fans are fucking delusional

  10. That thing last night btw where they stuck up the two managers records side by side and said "Howe has basically had no impact". Carragher and Neville genuinely see themselves as proper pundits and analysts, and I quite like them both, but that is a bloke incapable of critical thinking, just looking at two sets of numbers and going "well they're the same." Shochcchhhhhin'.

  11. Ah well, it'll be exciting signing a new striker anyway. Then get Wilson back in March/April for the final push to survival. TALLY HO YIPPITY DIP!

  12. The most impressive thing has been his work rate defensively. His willingness to track back as well as get forwards and the number of 50/50s he’s winning when he does get back. When was the last time we had a proper box-to-box midfielder?

  13. I just think he’s more comfortable and can use his physicality and pace more from a deeper position. I get the feeling he’s a massive confidence player too but playing that bit deeper he spends more time facing the opposition goal. From his time playing upfront you could see he wasn’t comfortable with his back to goal, being isolated, battling the centre-back. Howe’s obviously spotted something in him and realised a more dynamic role in midfield where he’s involved in the play more suits him. Tl/dr he’s a much better midfielder than he is a striker

  14. The requirement to stay up this year is gonna be nowhere near 40 points. More likely to be closer to 30.

  15. I do remember a lot of matches under Bruce where I was just thinking “How did we get away with it?” afterwards. Since Howe came in it’s rather a “How did they get away with it?” It’s a totally different perspective nowadays.

  16. It’s all about enjoying football again for me. I don’t care if we are getting relegated but just to see a team actually playing football and not simply relying on luck is making it enjoyable. The gap between us and those teams ahead of us is still rather thin. If we can go on a winning streak then there is stil a chance. If we go down then it will be down zo the fat cunts responsible for it. How much bacon do I get for a million quid, did you say?

  17. Pity Fraser wasn't involved in that interview, big Jow could've told the interviewer that 'Anymore of your cheek and I'll be testing your chin......' before pointing to Longstaff and Fraser and finishing '.....and that's the long and short of it'.

  18. Jan 15th vs Watford if so, 15 days to get some new players in and Watford will have 5/6 away for the afcon..

  19. That injury news is grim reading. Wilson out for months. ASM probably for a month at least. Fraser for a few weeks. We need a shitload of signings in January now as we already needed to replace our entire shit defence and now we need backup for our entire injured attack. I can't see us getting anywhere near enough signings in as even the logistics of getting that many signings done makes it seem unlikely. This is going to be a tough January/February without our two best players. So disappointing that the positives of the 1-1 are overshadowed by those injuries, essentially making it the worst result of the entire December fixture list for the implications it has going forward.

  20. Spurs will need to be better than they have been against 10 man Southampton today. 3 minutes left. Still 1-1.

  21. This Spurs shirt is cosmic. Have they got a third strip with a wolf howling at the moon?

  23. It was Joelinton who sought out his own fitness coach under Bruce wasn’t it?

  24. Aside from enjoying the technical development of the player, I think it speaks a lot to his mental toughness that he continued to stick it out here, didn't sulk, kept playing where he was asked to play - all the while he was increasingly coming under fire from the media (and honestly the fans as well - myself included). I'm really pleased for him that he's doing so well, and his determination will stand him in good stead for the future both inside and outside of football.

  25. Shame Bruce didn't read Toontastic tbh

  26. It was a depressing and traumatic miracle that we weren't relegated under him. The truth is the suffering of watching us with him at the helm (bullshitting results on the back of some individual runs of form) was worse than relegation because we had to listen to 'pundits' singing his praises.

  27. The biggest weakness in Ashley’s tenure was wanting his managers to be competent yes men. The two things simply do not go hand in hand. Good managers who can improve players want the side to progress. The idea you can tread water is unsustainable ( as the relegations showed). Any manager buying into the philosophy where you can just keep staying up by not spending very much is always going to be someone who lacks self respect and is just happy to be here. With Bruce we probably reached ‘peak Ashley’. We seemed to have an inordinate amount of luck to achieve the league positions we did under him. It was undoubtedly coming home to roost this season before the takeover. His job wasn’t even under threat, man

  28. This is a good comparison, feels silly saying it but not many others compare with the physicality and athleticism that he's bringing lately. Cabaye and Tiote are not bad shouts positionally CT just that Cabaye never had the physicality and Tiote never had the attacking impetus, neither had the aerial presence of Joelinton either. We can only hope that he maintains this level of pressing and involvement.

  29. Make him captain. He’s been our best player by far since Howe came in.

  30. Absolutely the same for me. Only a short while ago I was forcing myself to watch games simply because my daughter is Newcastle daft. As soon as the ref blew, the channel was switched and no fucks were given. Now, I’m really looking forward to attending matches when I can, watching fan YouTube channels about us, buying football shirts and enjoying reading the football section on here. The love is back

  31. I don't think Norwich, Burnley, Watford or Leeds are going to get close to 36 points. I can't see where their sudden upturn in form will come from. Maybe Leeds when their squad return from injury. I see Everton also being more likely to stay out of the 'battle' due to the form of the rest rather than gaining a load of points. They got 13 of their 19 points in the first 5 games. 6 points in their last 12 games implies that they have imploded and we aren't even looking that far up the table for survival. I don't think the team who survives this year will need to do much.
