My advice is don't read the tweets of random supporters and lend them any weight. They could be posting on a forum under the name Christmas Tree ffs.7 points

Hope still on Bruce's case. (Obviously doesn't need to @ Alex Bruce as he'll be already following him).6 points

When we first got bought, I was saying Howe would he a daft appointment for the richest club in the world. I've since had a bit of a reality check and realised that we're still a bit of a basket case, and just not an attractive prospect yet for a big name manager. If he comes here and does the hard yards of sorting out the mess the club is in - he clearly ran a very professional setup at Bournemouth - then that'll do for me.5 points

If this had happened under Ashley we’d be happy as pigs in shit. If it’s true they’ve offered a 2 and half year contract then all the better- no one will be under any illusions of why he’s there. Good luck to the bloke.5 points

This is normally the point where I'd post "that" picture of Steve and his funeral cortege, but seriously, what's the point?5 points

It is still nice to see it in black and white. Loads of files are getting uploaded to companies house today with regards to the takeover and companies that are involved5 points

Whatever happens, I've never had so many posts to catch up on between shite match thread titles. You'd barely be able to find three posts midweek never mind three of four pages in one thread. We have truly hit the big time boys! (Aside from the fact we still look a shower to everyone else)5 points

The only thing I don't like about this is it's the first time the club has had a manager that's younger than me. Which is total bullshit.4 points

The lot of them, it's their life, crack on etc but I'd tell myself to fuck off every time I looked in the mirror if it was me.4 points

So this guy's wife killed herself during the investigation into his corruption, and he's now claiming that he's the victim in all of this because a lawful and apparently well founded examination of his illegal activities has allegedly caused her death. That is one of the most pathetic things I've ever heard. Truly and sincerely. What an absolute weapon this guy is. Clearly doesn't give a fuck about his wife's death for one thing.4 points
-
Guilty as charged and now absolutely shamelessly playing the victim card, dragging his dead wife into it. If she killed herself over this, then he should look to himself for his own actions. If she didn't, and he's just trying it on now, then he's just not even worth bothering with. Either way, he can fuck right off.4 points

If he was called Eduard Howitz, I'd be wondering what kind of fucking weird name is that4 points

It's the same as Trump in America. Basically the standards and norms which are meant to hold the people in power don't stand up to the lol fuck you approach The rules don't apply to them and they have no shame or conscience. The U.S. is a couple of years ahead in the way to being one party authoritarian state, and once the Republicans get back in democracy will be gone over there. We aren't far behind. Our "rights" are being removed in plain sight and the bovine don't give a fuck4 points

NUFC fans under Ashley: 'We don't demand a team that wins, we demand a team that tries'. Three weeks later: 'BOOO!!! Why haven't you given us a world class manager?!? PCP out!'4 points

Different though isn't it. This is an out of work manager, not a bloke with an important CL fixture on his mind. But aye, we should play our cards A LOT closer to our chests. Could also be coming from Howe's team btw.3 points

Aye I agree. Played 10, 4 points, and problems from top to bottom at the club, is a fucking massive turn-off. Fair play to Howe if it's true that he already has specific plans to fix things.3 points

I kinda feel like we can't really blame Emery for backing out. It's a high risk job at the moment with massive downside for him (and us) in that we could very well still get relegated. Add to that the only moderate upside considering we (almost certainly) won't be in a position to compete for major silverware for a good few years yet. Of course, it's possible that a manager like Emery comes in and stays for a decade and everything is rosy, but it's much more likely, I think, that when/if we do win something it'll be on the second/third manager once everything non-football related is in place. It's probably better for someone like Howe to be (at least at first) the canary in the coal mine for everyone's sake. An appointment that's a little more sobering might temper expectations for a while and that's not the worst thing ever since there appears to be a lot of the nitty-gritty of running a football club properly that still needs to be sorted out. It might be the case that Howe will struggle to attract the type of players that a bigger name manager may have got over the line. That maybe is a downside but it's also possible that any players we get in prior to a restructuring of everything won't be the ones that win us anything anyway. Personally, I liked the way Howe went about things at Bournemouth (as far as I bothered to pay attention during my recent sabbatical from football). His teams played attractive football and he seems a smart operator. And, on top of that, it'd be nice to see a younger manager come in, do well, and build his reputation alongside the club. And, most importantly, for now, 'doing well' means avoiding relegation. Howe is more than capable of achieving that goal.3 points

It's short term man. It's about having a manager vs not having one at all. Then in the summer you get a long term replacement. The timing of this takeover has completely fucked our chances of getting a good start. I don't think there's been enough appreciation of that. Good managers are in jobs during the season, and for the most part, good managers won't leave good clubs to join a serious relegation prospect, with only the January window to fix things. Summer is the time to get things right. In the meantime, it's project survival, and if that means a sticky plaster manager, so be it.3 points

What's the bet that Jones plays the exact same team as the last two games on Saturday, given he'll very likely be in charge. The men in white coats should be called if he does, given he'll have qualified for insanity. Maybe Howe will be in place before then, but I can't see him making major changes given how little time he'll have with the players, so he'll likely let Jones take the lead more or less and be on a watching brief.3 points
