  1. 50% of them having managed us. Ffs.

  2. Martinez took over a fairly solid but unspectacular Everton side if memory serves and everyone was wanking about his first season where they still managed to keep solid but had some flair. Second season the D Day landing fleet could've passed through their midfield and back line. A bit like Bruce carrying over the Rafa effect for a while. He's not what we need in our boat.

  3. Martinez would be a nightmare appointment imo. Absolutely fucking dreadful manager, I always found the great escape artist schtick the pundits attributed to him at Wigan hilarious given he was the bloke that consistently guided them into that mess every fucking year. Not saying you’re advocating for his appointment btw. I’d be gutted with him as manager.

  5. Well said. Respected by both halfs of Glasgow which is really something given how dominant his Rangers team were in the 90's. Did more to try and bridge the divide than any any other old firm manager I can think of. Took no pish from journalists either:

  12. Factory life all the lads in my section at my place got given written records of conversation for going for their dinner a few minutes early the other day. I happened to be off. Anyway their response was to work exactly to the written process and reduce productivity by about 30%. Love owt like that.

  14. I am not sure about Fonseca. I don't know him to much, but I can tell some things about him. I think he is a coach that need time to built his team and not to get good results inmediatly. And we need to win since next match. Fonseca did very well with small teams in Portugal with 0 pressure. In his first experience, in Second Level of Portugal League, he ended the League in 3rd position with Deportivo Aves, a team that should be top5 or top6. Ok. Is good. Well done. In his second experience, he ended in third position with Paços... A team that should be fight in the bottom of the league. Veeery Well. This team was so smart. Playing defensive football, not conceding in the back and doing so well the counterattack. This performance made him to sign with Porto... And he not convince. Bad in League, Cups and Europe, he had a very good team, with Jackson, Quintero, Quaresma, James, Fernando, Danilo, Hector Herrera, Varela, Alex Sandro, Otamendi... He was eliminated in Champions in groups and was fired when he was third in League. Come back with Paços and did well. He discovered Diogo Jota this year playing the end of the season and ending in half of the table. Again, a new experience with a better team. Braga, probably the fourth of the country behind Portp, Benfica and Sporting. And he did very well. He won the half of the matches this season. He won the Cup, ended the season in 4th and QuartersFinals in Europa League. With Shakthar is not easy to evaluate because Shakthar is by far the best team in the country. In the Ukranian Championship he did very well. Three leagues and three cups in three years. But not in Europe. First year, a bad Europa League, being eliminated by Celta. Second, good performance, getting 12 points in Group Stage and later downing by Roma. Third, bad again, being 3rd in Group Stage and losing later in Europa League against Frankfurt. In Roma, he was correct in League in first year (5th, but not have a squad for more) and correct in Cups, being defeted by Juventus and Sevilla. But second he ended in 7th and the squad was for more. He had lots of personal problems with Dzeko and bad relationship with the players. I am not sure about him. He have never getting a team in the middle of the season. Not experienced in this kind of situation. He need more time to work and this team needs to win inmediatly. Hehave done very well with bad squads, and very bad with strong squads. He have played almost his all career with 4-4-2 formation, and 3-4-2-1 in Rome. And this team need to sign better defenses to play with 4 in the back.

  29. I am fortunate enough to be part of a community online that includes many trans people, mostly trans women, and I have seen this discussion take place between them. Not a single one of them has ever said that anyone should be compelled to have sex with them. Moreover they've made clear that they wouldn't want to be with anyone who wasn't attracted to them anyway. Just like everyone else really. I'm not saying I don't believe this Jenny woman from the article hasn't had a bad experience but ffs haven't we all. I've had women go off at me for not reciprocating their advances before - some people struggle particularly with rejection. I suppose especially in the case of people who feel as insecure about themselves as transwomen. That doesn't make what she experienced ok, far from it, but is it worthy of a national fucking news story? The trans people I know are all very shy, very insecure about themselves (likely because they're mid-20s, and lack some of the wisdom and ability to not give a fuck that comes with age) and really don't understand why so many people are going out of their way to make them some sort of enemy. My mum is a devout Christian in her early 60s and even she has managed to get to the stage where she thinks trans people should just be left the fuck alone to exist however they please. If she is capable of this then why the fuck isn't the media?

  35. I always took it as they were meaning that, even Bruce himself went on about only having good experiences with fans he encountered in real life, I’ve never seen any indication he received any threats or bother when out and about only on social media, which he doesn’t have. I always assumed Alex would print off a list of abuse and bring it to Sunday dinner where Steve would go “come on then son, let’s hear the damage this week” “you won’t believe it this week dad psychotoonfan27 said you’re an inept cabbage headed cunt” “I don’t know how I’ll go on son, Luke Edwards will hear about this”.

  37. Can’t understand why Mahmood wasn’t given a chance in the summer with one eye on the Ashes. Overton did ok in English conditions but we already know he’s not the type of bowler who does well down under. Getting Stokes back is great for our batting but Archer is a bigger loss. His inclusion s might have given us half a chance. Robinson might do well with his accuracy and extra bounce but you really need a couple of bowlers who can regularly hit 90mph. We only have one in the squad and he struggles to stay fit for two consecutive tests. Aussies big favourites. I expect it to be 4-0 or 4-1

  38. You're misunderstanding if you think I or other people are saying he's a bad player. I'd put him second behind Wilson, but as talented as ASM undoubtedly is he does have clear flaws to his game. Flaws that allowed us to buy him in the first place.

  41. I like him too as a pundit. But it was the same with his defence of Bruce. His argument was basically that the treatment of Bruce was completely out of order but he didn’t really offer a justification for that beyond Bruce being a great bloke (and, by extension, his mate). The patter about it being employee abuse or whatever was just obfuscation. He very likely knew he was being ridiculous but he just couldn’t bring himself to admit the obvious, ie Bruce was on the verge of being sacked because the performances and the results were steering the club towards relegation

  42. Watch Neville's body language in the last 5 minutes of this. He's so fucking uncomfortable when faced with the prospect of having to criticise his friends. Souness is spot on, basically saying I'm offering up my idea of a solution and you're just knocking it down, but SOMETHING has to change, and Neville is squirming in his seat because the only answer to what is wrong at Man United is that his real life friends aren't up to the task. This is how you end up with these situations where an objectively poor manager like Steve Bruce can't be criticised.
