  6. Just caught something on R4 about NHS appointments and two callers bemoaning it but as soon as one mentioned that they suspected it was being run down for privatisation by the sell off party she was interrupted and told to keep politics out of it as there was no talking shite head, sorry Tory MP to waffle irrelevant lies on hand.

  7. Would love to see Alex making a 6 part Netflix series about it. Sitting in the production meeting, absolutely adamant that a full hour has to be spent on drugs and house music.

  9. The odd thing about the bbc is it largely conforms to what the swivel eyed loons want to hear, or at least goes out of its way not to offend them. The latter with its ridiculous notion of ‘balance’. Yet the little Englanders not only hate them / distrust them anyway, almost no one else takes their news coverage seriously now either. In licking the government’s arse to save themselves they’ve pretty much sealed their fate.

  12. Spot on @Alex, the Taylor report had a far greater effect on changing the supporter demographic than Sky could ever hope of doing....the demise of the terraces was a result of Hillsborough....they didn't really need to go though, just the fences.. lots of things coincided at that time to change football but surprise surprise Hillsborough & Bradford and their subsequent reports weren't mentioned in the doc...

  13. So..... We're pushing back import checks yet again, this time until January next year or July next year (but no doubt will be extended past this date). Frost says it is to give businesses more time to prepare. Which businesses, EU exporters? That's the only group this will help. So once again we prolong the asymmetrical position where UK businesses have to endure a raft of non-tariff barriers, rigorously enforced by the EU, whilst EU companies can export what they like with minimal paper work, completely unchecked? The only reason for this I can make out is that we simply don't have the capacity to enforce the terms of the TCA we negotiated. Why the fuck is this not being adequately reported @Dr Gloom? This is a nation slowly committing suicide, it really is.

  14. I watched the first one too but thought similar to HMHM. Italia 90 was massive but it wasn’t the game changer it was portrayed as. There were other social changes taking place. Hillsborough has a far greater effect on the change to the match day experience. Even the drugs changed things with casuals taking Es etc. in the wake of acid house. And the eventual realisation of the massive potential for tv subscription revenue of course.

  16. So much for the Tories being the party of business. It's hard to grow the economy when you've shut off one of your main supplies of labour.

  17. Last two times we either had a core of a decent squad that stayed or we had a world class manager. This time also I don't see Ashely having the appetite to invest. He will gamble again on some bent cunt like Warnock. When we go down we will lose ASM, Almiron, Dubs, willock etc and be left with Shelvey, Big Joe etc.

  21. Gloomy fighting on like a WW1 grunt in the face of overwhelming opposition here His point about balance does actually stand up, mostly. For every Kuenssberg, you have a Maitlis, and a Wark. What’s changed ( and I’m talking specifically about BBC News), as Alex pointed out, is that the upper editorial team are all rampant Tories. Thats just fact. The county is on the brink of being unable to provide the food and goods that any western society would expect as standard and we’re hearing about a fucking Llama being shot because it’s riddled with TB, or Kim fucking Kardashian turning up to some do in a burqa. I’d expect at the very least, that the National broadcast channel would ask, in the strongest possible way, why Brexit has led to Mr & Mrs Gammon not being able to buy their usual, regular supply of Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Fresh Pastas, German lagers and that nice Côtes de Rhone that Muriel likes so much- you know, all that foreign muck they voted to not have access to…

  28. If you look at the economic models for the FTA style Brexit we have undergone there were two issues which were forecast to hold back our economy by 5% GDP. First was non-tariff barriers to trade. Second was labour shortage. The predictions look spot on so far.

  29. Aye, it’s incompetence based on riding our luck in the past (including bouncing straight back from relegation) that’s got us heading down this road. Not some master plan to thwart the blocking of the sale.

  30. Sick of hearing this moronic stance. The value of the club plummets with relegation. He's been asking too much whilst we were in the Premier League to the extent that only the Saudi state have been willing to pay his asking price. In what realm can anybody imagine that 1) he'd sell us for a championship club price or 2) anybody would pay a Premier league club price for a relegated club. Why don't we just stop trotting this one out?

  36. In all honesty I think Charnley will back Bruce right up until Ashley tells him to sack him. Then he will text Bruce the decision and turn his phone off.

  37. Charnley’s incapable of making a decision until the decision is effectively made for him. Don’t expect a sacking until at least after the January transfer window closes

  41. Austin was only 16 when she won the US Open / her first major I think. There’s more depth in the women’s game now though. It also feels like there’s a changing of the guard with some of the players Raducanu beat, especially Fernandez, being ranked a lot lower going into the tournament than where they’ll be in 12 months time. Austin won more grand slams and got to world number one before burnout / early retirement (I think she was like 13 or 14 when she was on the professional tour, which wouldn’t be allowed now). With Raducanu winning as a qualifier (never done before) and not dropping a single set in the whole tournament (ditto, if you count the qualifying rounds) it’s at least the equal of Austin’s first win I reckon. Especially given the former’s complete lack of experience

  43. Shearer on MOTD “I hate what my club is, or has become. “It has been a long time now. “It is a hollow and it is an empty football club. “There is no hope or ambition and I’m pretty sick of it to be honest. “It is copy – paste – repeat, every season.” Gary Lineker: “What could change it?” Alan Shearer: “Well they give players that have been at the football club new contracts because they can’t sell them on. “Then they have the excuse they can’t bring other players into the football club because those players are being paid a salary. “It is cheaper to keep them on the books rather than buying other players. And the fans deserve better. “Every manager has the same problems. “As I say, it is copy – paste – repeat, every season.
