Only the privileged 6 are allowed to have their standard shirts, anyone else can have theirs tinkered with as they don't matter as much and are just grateful for the money. Do you think if Liverpool or Man U had a massive white patch on the back of their shirts the fans would be happy? And if their fans weren't happy the club and media would bang their drum. There's more important things going on in the world obviously but I can't believe loads of clubs with stripes on their shirts were just told to dramatically alter it and that was ok? Then there's the sports companies who think they'll just completely alter the sleeves etc because it's only NUFC or whoever. Again, let's see them make Man U or Liverpool's sleeves all white but that wouldn't happen would it?4 points

Are we glad it (probably) ends any lingering hope he'll turn up back at SJP if this takeover ever rears it's ugly head? Would anyone have really wanted him back?3 points

I'm just disappointed we don't have Everton at home until the second half of the season. Imagine Bruce's blood pressure going through the roof as Rafa gets serenaded by the fans for a solid 90 minutes.2 points

One for the old gits - Stuart Damon out of The Champions has died. I didn't realise his co-star Alexandra Bastedo died 7 years ago - she was one of my first crushes along with Julie Newmar out of Batman.2 points

Isn’t the debate a bit more nuanced that that? I may have this wrong but I thought TBD was saying that police are rarely properly held to account on the occasions they abuse their positions - by their colleagues, the justice system or the press. I think he was trying to contrast that with the example of the travellers (which I freely admit I know nothing about). if that’s right then he’s not saying all police and violent and corrupt, just that bad cops can act with impunity because there are rarely consequences (usually they just retire on a generous pension). I don’t think theres anything wrong with calling that out - a fair and just police force is what’s needed to protect society (which is their role after all) and justice is supposed to be blind. As a footnote personally I don’t think the press should be allowed to identify anybody who’s before the courts until sentence has been passed. Because theyre cunts and dont give a shit about the fairness, impact or consequences of their reportage.2 points

Will it make much difference at this point anyway? Things are already pretty unlocked, people are freely visiting each others homes. I think delta is so contagious it can't be contained by even our most stringent lock down rules. The prevalence makes me nervous but at this point i think we have to let go and have trust in the vaccines. Hopefully the virus will run out of hosts and case numbers will stabilise and ultimately fall, and admission rates and fatalities will stay low.2 points

The fucking cheek of them demanding more transparency about anything They haven’t even released the accounts from last year for a start and that’s before you get into 15 years of saying fuck all to fans or press about anything at all.1 point

I haven’t bought a shirt since 2010 and that was off eBay. Cheap shite marked up in price. I bought an England shirt for my auntie on Monday. (She’s in a care home) She takes child sizes, £55 fucking pound. Criminal.1 point

If the takeover does happen, I reckon they’ll still go for him- imagine, unlimited funds and pissing off the scouse Mackems in one fell swoop. ( Although, they mightn’t be that pissed off )1 point

I think bringing in Benitez 18 months ago would have been the right move. He knew the squad, the area, he would still have been welcomed back by the majority, and given that an 'elite' coach would likely have not wanted to join a club that would be unable to truly compete for major honours, or qualify for the Champions League for a few seasons at least. As you say he would have been a perfect transitional appointment. With the Saudi's reported ambitions we'd have surely been aiming to finish as high up the league as possible while improving the foundations, and Benitez would be the man to deliver that. Then, when we had improved the squad after a couple of seasons pass the baton to a younger, more contemporary manager who could take us further.1 point

I doubt anybody will think he’s been exonerated. I’m not sure if he’s paid enough for his crimes but at least he’s served two years in prison and his reputation has been destroyed.1 point

He seems to be saying it is a BLM issue, as well, which is odd given that his victims included black women, the DA who gave him his technicality is white, AND HE ADMITTED THAT HE DID IT!1 point

Its worth noting that if England win the Euros it adds another twist to the Steve Bruce - Graham Jones saga. Bruce banning every journalist that asks about it from press conferences leaving just Lee Ryder to ask the hard hitting questions such as what’s his favorite rice pairing for his chicken Bhuna, I imagine his answer will be the same as my dads cousin who said he has his with chips because rice is for pudding.1 point

I am involved in about 10-20 murder cases a year. As I said before, press reports are rarely a true reflection of what’s happening at courts.1 point

For the last couple of days, the deaths figure has been down on where it was this time last week, whilst cases have continued to rise. The cases figure is not the number to be focusing on.0 points
