Sopranos. Again. Gearing up for The Many Saints of Newark . You can take your Wire, Breaking Bad, absolutely anything decent you want to mention that came after it and you can see it’s root, right there in New Jersey. None of them can hold a candle to it though1 point

@Blastronaut Yeh it’s the hellbabe. Which is a fucking shit name but it is what It is. The last Jim Dunlop I had was a 535Q which I think the hellbabe is loosely based on and the hellbabe blows it out of the water. The optical side of it is fantastic, it’s much easier to use and won’t break. Plus you don’t have to click it in to play, the pedal starts as soon as you move it. So for £40 I’m absolutely over the moon. You can edit a lot about the tone but I’ve got it before the drive pedals set to quite a snappy wah and it really rings out the high notes.1 point

He should have just called it Rich Energy Zero, which represents the number of cans we'll ever see in the shops.1 point

Yeah, I just don’t see any good coming from our going down. It hasn’t gotten rid of Ashley on the two previous occasions. In terms of wins, Fulham are four wins from overhauling us. We’re nearly two thirds of the way through the season and they’ve won two matches in the league. We should be ok, barring something out of the ordinary1 point

Aye as much as I absolutely despise Bruce and want a proper manager getting relegated would be catastrophic.1 point

Hayden earned his wages. Thought he was brilliant today filling in at centre half again. Hopefully now that the waste of space that is Hendrick is suspended for a game, we can get Willock and Hayden into a midfield partnership with ASM, Almiron and Fraser ahead of them, and please god Wilson, who I hope isn't too badly injured, ahead of them. That's a very decent midfield and attack to be working with, so Bruce will likely persist with Shelvey. As for defence Clark and Dummett can slot into those centre back roles, so we shouldn't be too badly off, although we'll certainly be missing a bit of pace in that department. The one thing you can say about the team is that they are still fighting on the evidence of that last twenty minutes, and we'll need at least that if we are to get anything out of the next two games.1 point

They love resigning players or extending contracts of players they shouldn't as it saves the hassle of actually going out and spending time and money getting new players. The mediocrity is everywhere at NUFC. It stinks.1 point

Agree with all that. Sickener for Sibley there. But taking the shine off the new ball is important anyway but there’s no need for quick runs at the top when you have our middle order. Give them a platform and we can beat anyone.1 point

v encouraging that he has converted a few 50s on the bounce as i think he was having a bit of a mental block. how many times did he make good-looking 40s and 50s only not to go on in recent years?1 point

What strikes me is when he looks happy like this is that it reminds me of the old pre-captaincy Root. Not just the shot making, feet movement and so on. When it looked like it had gotten a bit too much for him it was kind of like his mindset was - I don’t have the mental strength to concentrate for as long as I’d like so I’ll have a bit of a go and try and get runs quickly. I doubt that was even a conscious decision - if it was the case. But now it’s like when he first came into the side (or when he found that niche in the middle order that suited him). Where you’re going to have to get him out because he refuses to give it away.1 point

Great stuff by Root. The combination of him batting at 4, Silverwood coming in and the approach of playing more traditional / attritional players ahead of him (which you also have to give and the coach credit for) just seems to have eased the pressure of captaincy enough. Allowing him to concentrate on what he’s best at.1 point
