As much as I think Hendrick is shite, I think Bruce would have been better leaving him on and taking off Shelvey or Hayden last night. All that substitution did was to make it more congested in our attacking areas and have the remaning two midfielders sitting on top of the centre backs. Hendrick was at least breaking forward and I think that movement helped create more space. The further substitutions made space even less available. It was blatently obvious to everyone, apparently apart from and Shelvey, that what was happening was just slowing everything down and allowing Palace to get back a deny us space. Still I didn't want to poke my eyes out while watching so things definitely have improved.2 points

The 2-2 was perfect actually. You could just imagine the smug post-match interview forming itself in Hippo Heed’s thoughts, about how he changed it at halftime (being the tactical genius he is). Only to be spoiled be the Fulham equaliser. Delicious. And they’ve just lost to Sheffield Utd. Hopefully we can win tonight and fully savour his litany of shit excuses for the rest of the season as he takes West Brom down2 points

I'm only a bit complementary about him in hindsight. We only knew he'd done a half decent job when the EU threw a wobbler last week. Before then I thought he was a contemptible spunk trumpet. I now merely think he's a spunk trumpet1 point

TBF buying the vaccines was the easy bit. All he had to do was spunk money at anyone who said they were developing one. It's been the rollout that has been impressive but that seems to have been left largely to the NHS afaia.1 point

if someone flies a union jack or st george flag in their window, what's your first thought? patriot, or facist? the flag has been hijacked to the extent that we can't even tolerate our leader standing in front of it while delivering a televised address.1 point

The thick northerners then? If a bit of flag fucking is what it take then I’m all for that. You have to bring these people with you, not completely ignore them.1 point

Its not aimed at the centre. Its not aimed at the middle class professionals, which is most people on here. Its aimed at former Labour supporters who are in fact right wing in the sense they are socially Conservative, nationalistic, and in actual fact love a bit of authoritarianism. Anyway, I agree with the article, and as I've said I sensed the change before it was written. I want no part of the labour party heading in this direction.1 point

I don't feel shame about it, I just think it's disingenuous and transparent. Along with, I would add, most of the people it's supposed to appeal to.1 point

We probably had a good opportunity to take forward a very positive vision of patriotism after 2012 and the olympics. I actually did feel proud of my country at that point, and the values associated with it (so, totally agree with NJS there). The problem is that we didn't really take that anywhere and I guess that was actually the peak moment for 'our ideals'. What we've missed from that point is that the Tories and the relentlessness of austerity have forced us into a murkier form of patriotism. And in part that's because no one is offering any believable hope for any great improvements to life. Everything is just shit, there's no way out of it, so people have chosen to be angry rather than constructive.1 point

I admired him for his efforts but I always feel uneasy about charity for the NHS - seeing people who want to abolish it praising his efforts was also sickening. Still sad he died before he could be vaccinated of course. RIP.1 point

Wonder how much of it is because the players just don’t like Everton. Making Pickford look a tit again is motivation enough for anyone.1 point

2-2 draw do you? Much, much better from the team and it's way too much of a coincidence that we get a new coach in and suddenly look like a new team. Genuinely looked like a team benefiting from a New Manager bounce. Slight tweaks to the formation, playing much higher up the pitch, changes to instructions, better set pieces. I don't believe for a second that Bruce has been sitting on these changes for 18 months then just happens to prise them from under his fat arse for this game.1 point
