  1. That would be very sage advice if it applied to us in any way. Mind, imagine completely losing all of your integrity as a journalist in the eyes of fans everywhere over Steve Fucking Bruce How hard up can you be as a journalist to only have him as a trusted source?

  3. Fuck off you patronising prick, if it wasn’t for us you’d all be speaking German right now.

  4. Thing is it'll all come down to the contracts. EU has contracts for Y million doses UK has orders for X million doses Lump of the X million doses (and some of the Y are made here), and visa versa I suspect. AZ hit production issues and can't fulfil Y, so EU says you must deliver equitable amounts, UK say well they're made here so they are all ours, EU are simply doing the same. We left the club, they're going to protect themselves as best they can, quite rightly, as we'll do same. End of the day everyone in the world needs the jab, so it's all rather short sighted.

  6. They fucked up at the start. That’s clear. We had clear warnings from Europe and ignored them. What is criminal though is that most of the deaths have come from November on. More than six months into this thing and the government was finding bigger and better ways to fuck up. Yet they still appear to have the support of the public and much of the media.

  7. It's got Ted Cruz and AOC to agree on something, so that's already a heck of an achievement.

  9. NJS just said he’s too much of a centrist. I’m just saying the world could do with more Bidens and Starmers right now - vanilla, left of centre, consensus builders. We are crying out for boring centrists. Climate change is an area Biden is already taking seriously. He played a crucial part in getting the Paris agreement over the line, has obviously rejoined straight away, and has created a special climate envoy role for John Kerry - hopefully a sign that he isn’t fucking about.

  10. Aye, like I said, his head's gone a bit. Started with some backlash with the takeover and he's taking it very poissanally as they say in the Godfather and he's now reduced to trolling the support over a dodo manager. Strange move.

  11. I used to think he was a sensible voice among the rubbish coming from the Chron, but his fixation on the Cabbage is just weird and is more in keeping with a talkshite presenter than a broadsheet journalist (if there is even such a thing now).

  16. Just had a humbling moment there. Have a bloke decorating my house at the minute - got chatting to him and turns out he's a pilot on furlough. He's taken up work as a decorator to try and pay his mortgage. He’s not that good at cutting in, but he did a great job on the landing.

  18. How did we get a head start? Pfizer and AZ promised the EU certain deliveries by certain dates and they aren't going to meet those figures. I think it's fair enough for the EU to say that they won't be able to export those made within the EU.

  19. In all these things, you need to take a step back and look at it from the perspective of the other side. AZ has a contract with the EU they are not fulfilling, meanwhile they are supplying the UK. AZ won't send the vaccine from the UK plant to the EU. But the contract is between the EU and AZ, the location of the manufacturing plant is not relevant. Both the UK and EU should be treat equitably. If this doesn't happen then the EU might retaliate through Pfizer, which is after all a German US concern manufactured in the EU. To me it goes to show even more what a shit show Brexit is. If it comes to an all out vaccine war, I know who the loser will be. We'll be left with the shit AZ vaccine that can't be easily modified

  20. I keep saying this but I firmly believe Blair improved the lives of most people and reversed some of the policies of Thatcher. I would admit though that is somewhat anecdotal and there may be economic data that contradicts this (I.e. wealth gap increased). But watching the channel 4 programme It's a Sin reminded me what the NHS was like under Thatcher, with crumbling Victorian infrastructure and social stigmatisation. I'm old enough to remember it really was fucking horrific and it largely changed under New Labour. But anyway, most importantly for us, Biden is an internationalist.

  22. He tweeted something about being a good person and being loyal and kind to friends when they're in trouble. While I can understand him defending Bruce from some of the personal abuse that's appeared online, the majority of the criticism has been of his ability as a Premier League manager, and for that there's no defence.

  23. If I were the EU I'd be saying the same thing, do what you can to get as many doses as possible but this is one of the few areas where the Tory's plan of spending like a drunken sailor has paid off. We signed up for this vaccine way before the EU and they haven't even approved it for use yet. I think it's fair enough for us to have priority at this time.

  25. Also, the reason they have stuck with Wilder is the respect he has gained by getting them where they are now. As I understand it, they have been quite unlucky this season, which is why they are where they are. On the other side, the Cabbage has been immeasurably lucky in the last 18 months.

  31. cheers for that, TP. it is a shame to be losing bairstow and buttler, as they would both probably feature in our strongest batting lineup in india, but the rotation policy is understandable in the circumstances. mental health impact has long been an issue for touring cricketers. living in a covid secure bubble for weeks on end must exacerbate it

  33. Does anybody remember when Jonathan Ross interviewed her and bought a sample of his faeces in a tupperware box for her to make a "diagnosis"? She started retching about the smell and commented about how unhealthy his shit was. He promptly ate it because, in fact, it was a mashed up Mars bar. I think she was finished after that. As Ben Goldacre said, Dr Gillian McKeith, or to give her her full title, Gillian McKeith. Unfortunately her demise did not signal an end to the charlatans, quite the contrary in fact.

  34. Like he knows what his strongest team is anyway. He’s praised ASM and Almiron but the latter couldn’t get a look in earlier in the season when he was available and even when he’s played him it’s usually been in the wrong position. Making excuses is one of the only things he’s good at

  35. Aye, it’s incredible the fat mess has rode his luck this long. Then you’ve got the likes of Luke Edwards who, instead of trying to troll the fans about how good a job his mate is doing (purely because he can’t any more) is now trying to make us sympathise with the ‘real person’ in the manager’s role. I’m sure Bruce is stressed but, ffs, you’re talking about someone with zero integrity, earning more in a week than most of us do in a year, who knew exactly what he was walking into, is completely incompetent and is still getting an easy ride because of the lack of fans, an owner bereft of ambition beyond PL survival and pundits etc constantly making excuses for his obvious failings
