The bairn started secondary school a couple of weeks ago. Within 3 days we were notified that 3 6th formers had tested positive and the whole of 6th form had to isolate whilst they waited on guidance from PHE which they couldn’t get because it was the weekend. A few days later one of the kids in J’s year tested positive. The guidance was for kids that had been in his immediate contact to isolate for 2 weeks but the rest of the year could come in. Siblings of the isolating kids were still instructed to come in as normal. It’s a shitshow. Icing on the cake was when the bairn came back from his dad with symptoms. I was pretty convinced it was a heavy cold but also shitting myself. I also had to break the news that his/our lovely cat had died over that weekend and spent the next couple of hours consoling him while he covered me in tears and snot while I literally held my breath as much as possible. Ended up getting him a test through work which was negative. My second thought, after the relief, was the thought that if I ended up catching the fucking thing via school after intubating Covid-+ve patients for 6 months then I’d be raging.4 points

And it’s coming from a bloke who was so obsessed with Bruce bettering Rafa’s total that he turned off replies and claimed to not have seen matches where we lost at the back end of last season. And he’d have done similar bar the extremely fortunate equaliser yesterday. And that’s purely so he can win an argument on the Internet.3 points

When I used to play football in the park if the ball touched your arm or hand even if slightly or completely by accident it was tough shit, handball. I am thoroughly enjoying the new rules, I just don't think they go far enough3 points

On the face of it, that’s correct....eg pass back to goalkeeper rule & offside rule have both changed in the last 30 years but you have to look at the context why the changes were made. These two rules were changed in an attempt to make the game a better spectacle. Pass back undoubtedly did, the offside changes caused a lot of confusion. The handball in the penalty area rule has changed twice in a year because of VAR. I’m not a fan either of the context or how it plays out on the pitch.2 points

I think that’s a different fella. In fairness the SAFC TV bloke seems quite harmless. Interviews some proper “characters” mind.1 point

One of those rare occasions that you're actually glad the video quality is so bad.1 point

Isn't this just how it was already anyway, just framed as a law rather than as guidance? Either way, I expect it to be observed and enforced about as rigorously as it has been so far1 point

8,000 pupils and 350 teachers self isolating in Liverpool alone. Keeping schools open isn't working lads.1 point

It was only in May so fair do's, easy to miss in your research if you spent less than the 20 seconds I did. https://www.scmp.com/news/china/science/article/3084634/china-adds-long-term-organ-damage-list-effects-covid-191 point

Could be worse, you could be Dr Gloom and be teaching your kids that 800 divided by 3 is 200. I would advocate keeping their school open given that context.1 point

Cancel physical presence for students but keep schools open for your kids, I'm guessing?1 point

It’s just about his ego. It is the same with him constantly being negative towards Staveley but bigging up a possible takeover from Mauriss. When the deal fell through at the end of July he pushed his story of Henry because he had worked on it since November. He doesn’t cope with criticism about this story well either...1 point

I said as much to my other half who's best friend is in charge of admissions at Bournemouth Uni....towns and cities all over the country have handed over huge swathes of their central business districts to multi million pound student accomodation investments and the kids banged up in them this month will sharp learn about the effects of that as they will literally have to fight the investors mate's in government to get out for Christmas....1 point

And the institutions themselves who cottoned on a good few years back they could make as much, if not more, from accommodation than fees1 point

I've got no intention of changing my behaviour for definite. I want fuck all to do with any long covid complications and fuck all to do with other people in general. This is the life for the INTJ population. Me and the Unabomber (fellow INTJ) are living our best lives.1 point

It's not getting less deadly from a biological perspective. The demographic getting it now are currently younger and treatment is better. The case rate from March is irrelevant because the only people tested back then were seriously ill being admitted to hospital. A lot of the most vulnerable people have already died also. The infection rate, and therfore death rate probably won't ever get as high before because people now socially distance and we have access to PPE.1 point

Fucking hell, Ryder is trying to bum up Bruce for telling Carroll to give the penalty to Wilson to take. Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel for an upside.1 point

Fucking hell man, sounds like the game was class though. It’s good they’re doing well though, as it’ll make their inevitable shitting the seat at the end of the season all the funnier, I mean classier.1 point

Fun Fact ... Since Opta began collecting exact Premier League goal times in 2006, Callum Wilson's penalty equaliser for Newcastle (96:20) is the latest any side has scored with their first shot on target.1 point

I can confirm Newport has got a bit better since your last visit, but would probably still be considered a "shit hole". Your fans have been first class in supporting this, so thanks to those that have donated.1 point
