The signings make that pretty unlikely imo. I also think Ashley’s in need of the money for his next business venture. The end game for him is forcing the approval through. Which isn’t to say it’ll happen but there’s clearly a lot of shot that’s gone on behind the scenes and the secrecy of the PL and the seemingly contradictory statements suggests the process has been dodgy as fuck. Tbh I’m a bit like PaddockLad is my feelings towards the whole thing but, like I’ve said, the investment in the city and wider region would be great. It was a daft idea to bundle all the rights up in one package for that region though. It was always likely to amount to loads of piracy issues, state sponsored (which hasn’t been proven anyway, irrespective of the likelihood) or otherwise.

I am still struggling to see why the PL is so adamant for the state to be named as controlling entity. I could understand for all board members of PIF - who basically make up the Saudi government - to fall under the scope of the ODT but don’t see the legal necessity for the state to be named as owner.
