I long for the days of Scudamore. He’d have been balls deep in Saudi blood money before the kettle boiled at the first meeting.6 points

The gist is we don’t know were born and shouldn’t be pissed off with Ashley because Sunderland and Bury fans are far worse off. It’s a bit like saying we can never be pissed off with anything in life because we don’t live in Sunderland4 points

I don’t feel angry because it was so predictable. Dirty money is only for historically elite clubs (sic) like Man City & Chelsea. Football is shite these days mainly & Newcastle United are the worst of it.3 points

I’d lost interest anyway. If my laddie wasn’t into it I’d barely know what was going on. Final nail in the coffin for me now though.2 points

I totally agree. That’s why I don’t get all this messing around. It’s been totally clear who is involved in the takeover and how it is structured. Therefore the only question should have been if the piracy around BeoutQ prevents a Saudi entity to be involved in the running of a club in the Premierleague. It’s been a simple yes or no right from the start. The Premierleague has created this problem because of not giving a clear verdict either way.2 points

A case could certainly be made that the PL's refusal to reach a decision either way was tantamount to rejection seeing as the takeover couldn't be completed. I still don't believe that anyone has totally walked away from this deal. I think they expected a massive outcry at the news that the deal had fallen through and the PL to come under massive pressure but that hasn't happened. Outside of Newcastle most people have shrugged their shoulders and moved on. If Staveley thinks she has reason to go after them legally then she'll do so but these reports of her being in tears etc. were just nonsense for public consumption.1 point

Sean looked a good player under Benitez. He’s looked about a stone overweight in more recent appearances. Coincidence probably. Matty looks a completely different type of player though, which is odd given all footballing brothers are normally exactly the same. Take Bobby and Jackie Charlton for example1 point

Aye, I expect them to lay it on thick about how much we’re being a deluded set of cunts for not liking Ashley and wanting to target higher that lower mid table. Not that I plan on watching that dog shit.1 point
-
I think it’s a case of “Geordies know your place”. We’re not newsworthy because under Ashley we’re also-rans and whipping boys for the biggest clubs. And it’ll stay that way for as long as the PL is run like a closed shop for the richest clubs. Next season will be about the usual relegation battle, little else imo1 point

I think this Reuben brothers/Arena Racing Company story is newsworthy. Seems the BBC don’t. Nope they’re happier running opinion pieces about who Liverpool should buy. Or some shit about Paul fucking Scholes having a bloody party. FFS. After all the negative stories those twats ran whilst the bid was actively pending with the PL. What is going on here exactly? It really makes you fuckin wonder.1 point

The court ruling banning Bein was an odd one. Perhaps timed to force the PL to make a decision but like you say, I don’t see how they thought it would help. The idea the people involved in the bid were unaware of it seems far-fetched too. But while this was an important, high-profile asset for their portfolio they’ll have much bigger fish to fry and will probably have moved on. Maybe to an Italian club, as someone suggested. It was a much bigger deal to us than it ever was to them.1 point
-
There are obviously things you would like to know about the buyers regarding their intentions and actions, too. The Saudis certainly made a lot of strange decisions that weren’t helpful at all. Maybe they wanted to spare embarrassment but maybe they just got pissed off and thought that it’s not worth the hassle. They also might actually have had fundamental objections against the state being seen as director and un that case wanted to have nothing to do with it. But it’s foremost down to the PL to explain their inactions as you would expect of a transparent organisation of the western world.1 point
-
Yup. I've been saying all along its ridiculous that there isnt a timeframe for the EPL to make the decision. This is exactly why there always is one, in any industry, which can be extended given certain conditions if the case becomes complicated. Now it seems they dont even have to explain the inaction that could turn out to be significant in the history of the club, the city, the region at large. It is just beyond belief. Also, funny how there is no discussion in the media about just how fair the league is now. This should have everyone connected to the sport asking why one particular club was not allowed the sort of investment plenty others already have. The sanctity of the sport, or whatever is left of it, should be in question here.1 point
-
It’s incredible when you think about it. The PL could find absolutely nothing in the bid that would give them an excuse to block so they just wouldn’t make a decision or give a timeframe whilst all the while moving the goalposts. Just to keep the teams competing a closed shop. And most journalists are blaming the bidders.1 point
