I take my hat off to anyone who’s sat through this match. Just the stats - 38% possession, one shot on goal - indicate why NUFC under Ashley are such a joyless waste of time. Everything about the club including Bruce says mediocrity and boredom. It’s impossible to muster a single fuck about, well, anything. We’re now at the Lonsdale/Slazenger end of the spectrum that everyone predicted would happen under Ashley’s ownership. He’s fucked NUFC brand to the point where we’re completely hollowed out. Does anyone give a fuck from one week to the next about the football? Or what Kieron Dyer has to say? Or what Bruce’s plans are for the team, or who we’re going to sign next season? Take away the annual relegation drama and there’s very little of any interest. It’s all so boring. Bruce is the perfect manager for Ashley’s NUFC, wittering on in that strange high pitched voice about how nothing’s his fault and what a great job he’s done. Whatever Steve.5 points

I think my actual thoughts at the time we’re that he should “move upstairs” at the end of the season but i knew fuck all worth knowing at the time. (Not saying I do now ) They always used to sing about him pissing himself & having dementia etc, but every now and then there’s a mackem who tries to claim him. He was black & white daft, make no mistake but I think he held all the North east in high regard. As most men of his generation did/do. Again owing to the age thing there’s no doubt he didn’t hate Sunderland and probably even liked them, but a mackem he was not. They forget that a lot of fans of either club would alternate between NUFC/SAFC games depending on who was at home & there was zero animosity.4 points

I know the television studios don’t give a fuck, but the lack of knowledge and amount of ignorant comments the pundits make about the clubs outside of the “Big 6” (or however many of them there are now) is absolutely fucking pathetic.3 points

Utter nonsense, Bruce has taken us to a record premier league points total despite being loaded with the burden of a team who can't pass the ball, leak soft goals, don't know where they're supposed to be playing, always get injured, don't create chances, and look just plain dog-shit and completely clueless most of the time. It's just lucky we've got Brucie at a time like this.3 points

I don’t think it does but I haven’t been able to gather enough information on which basis the PL can offer TV rights to a whole region instead of single nations as in most of Europe. They are basically forcing certain nations to accept cross border broadcasting, something they have been rigidly opposing in Europe although there is a common market. As much as I am aware MENA is only a term for a region but not a legal entity. There seem to be multinational agreements about certain aspects dealing with broadcasting in the region like Arabsat. But in the same way the existence of Astra never stopped European leagues to sell tv rights exclusively. I doubt there is an existing international agreement between KSA and Qatar securing each other’s access to either market. As I see it the PL are just scared of one their main TV partners and how bein would react to a takeover, probably withholding payments. But as I said I can’t see the PL having the legal power and competence to force KSA to accept bein.2 points

Journalism is dying on its arse, the quicker people realise mongs like Edwards are fighting for views/page hits and ignore him the quicker he goes away.2 points

He’s class to watch no matter what he’s doing tbh. I was told in the last test he got the slowest England 100 and in the next innings the fastest ever England 50 but I can’t validate the claim. He’s one of the few to massively benefit from T20 & one day cricket. A lot of other players just forget how to play test cricket altogether.2 points

Aye. Some people thought his time was up but he still had the backing of most fans I’d say. It was purely down to Shepherd deciding he should go and there was by no means a fan-led movement to get him sacked. Meanwhile the classy lot down the road called him ‘pissy pants’ or something similar at the time and now they go on like he’s one of their own for being a County Durham lad2 points

It's noticeable that's it's all players who's career he ended somewhat badly that spout shit. You never hear Ferdinand, Lee or Given say anything other than positive things about us. That's because they got on with their football as oppose to acting like fucking children down the quayside and getting up to unsavoury things in hotel rooms like these twats.2 points

If there's anyone capable of fucking the sadness out of her then it's definitely this guy. He looks like Lee Ryder's dimwitted cousin.2 points

Aye, Souness came out last night with the old, 'expectations are so high up there it's impossible for any manager' line and in the next breath said how Rafa had the full backing of the fans despite the boring football.2 points

More likely he does not have a clue what is going on and had to say something ill-informed rather than shut up.2 points

Steve Bruce: “The one thing you can’t deny about this group is their ability to roll their sleeves up and have a go. “We played two full backs as centre backs today and I was delighted with their application and attitude. “I thought if anyone was going to win it in the second half it was us. “When you see Andy Carroll head and shoulders above their defenders you think it’s a classic Andy goal. He’s disappointed because it had goal written all over it but it wasn’t to be. “Emil Krafth has a really sore ankle. “He’s done well to carry on. He epitomised the spirit of all of them today. “It wasn’t a classic, don’t get me wrong. “However it was important that we put a point on the board. “Fair play to everyone that worked tirelessly to get the games on and get the season finished. “However it’s been a long, long year and we’ll have played ten games in 35 days which is a huge ask. “We haven’t got the ability to rotate so all in all the players have done well.”2 points

I still have the feeling that we finally might see movement next week once the season is over. If the PL had wanted to block the deal because of piracy and human rights they probably would have done weeks ago. KSA blocking bein can’t really be an issue because it can’t affect the ability to own a football club. In the end it would be tough luck for Saudi Arabians not being able to watch it.1 point

It was definitely his slowest test 100. And it was the fastest test 50 by an England opener. Him and Buttler opened in the second innings to try and get quick runs1 point
