You know what I find disgusting? Sanctimonious, jumped up, little pricks like you barging their way into a discussion that you have absolutely no part of, telling us what we are thinking about it and then attacking that imagined view point. While there are some knackers that are going to defend Saudi Arabia, the vast majority of fans are simply happy to see the back of Ashley but are conflicted about the new owners. It’s also worth noting that the majority of those you think are defending the Saudis are now doubling down on this to further wind up people like you. It’s being extremely fucking arrogant acting as if you know what we are feeling towards this, then taking the high road and talking down to people. We are a fan base that have had an utter leech as owner for 13 years, we’ve watched every facet of the club we love being torn to pieces. From having past legends of our club treat like shit (see Kevin Keegan suing the club, and Alan Shearer having his name removed from Shearer Bar), to our stadium being renamed to simply kick the fans further after relegation, ambition strangled, terrible football, arsehole managers etc. Then just as news breaks the club might be sold, before fans even have a moment to breathe and take stock of who the potential owners are, an onslaught of wankers like you jumped down the throats of the fan base labeling anyone who is excited about this to be monsters supporting the Saudi regime. That’s exactly how you put people on the defensive and the wind up, which is what happened and you’re now getting offended over it.7 points

Before you go back to your tin pot, league one, absolute fucking joke of a ‘classy’ club, don’t forget to have a shite in public, hero worship a peado, racially abuse one of your player’s mothers and shout at a statue of Jimmy Hill.6 points

The selective sanctimonious claptrap spouting from all over the place is going to make the end of Ashley's reign even more sweet. At the end of the day their ownership of a sports team does nothing to reverse the history of the country, and there is absolutely no connection worth making to the club itself, much less the supporters of it. The new owners will want it to soften their image and change the focus of their international profile. You wouldn't expect that it is going to be a financial driven decision for them, in that if they invest significantly it will be quite a while before that is recouped. As a supporter of the club and the team I can very easily separate out the football operations from the owner, I've been doing it for years. It's not that I don't care who the owner is, it's that I have absolutely no say over who it is.6 points

Took a long time to show he wasn’t actually a Newcastle fan. Imagine being that much of a knacker where you actually sign up to the forum of a club you hate, to try and pretend you’re one of them, and try and make a fucking petition about their potential new owners. A petition for fuck sake . Enjoy league one you rotter, and before you immediately try and claim the imaginary classy club title please remember that your fan base vocally backed a sex predator, and then tormented the victim and her family. Before you push off the ground with your twelve toes jumping up and down in fury at me comparing Johnson to the Saudis, I am not - as I’m not claiming NUFC holds some classy club title as your lot pretend to hold, I’m simply saying your fan base is far from ‘classy’. Laters, lol.5 points

What’s mint, is that all of these occurred within the last 5 years , with the exception of Bent’s Mam, which was over 10 years ago- the last time they could attract players of his quality.4 points

I’ve re-read the early pages of this thread. I’ll happily admit I was wrong about most things4 points

I scrolled through nothing, it took two seconds to find. The whole thing came about because you disagreed with people saying that Germany had made the right move to mass test early on and said they were on the exact same path as the U.K. Renton and I were of the belief that Germany had done the right thing and it was clear then that their death figures were much lower and would continue to stay lower. The only way to conclude such a discussion is to look at the actual data further down the line. This wasn’t me having a go to single you out for being wrong as much as shining a light on the fact that I was, I am and will continue to be right with every single statement I make. I’m more infallible than the pope right now.4 points

Aye, it was the example of Italy when I started losing it over this. I share an office with an Italian colleague, her father in law died from respiratory failure at the time, although they never even tested him for covid. Even without personal knowledge though it was the duty of the government to prepare for this. They failed miserably. We knew what was happening there, we knew what would happen here. To this day I just don't understand why so many people didn't grasp the severity of the situation at that point. In part, I genuinely think it's to do with the disease of British exceptionalism which has become prominent in this country. Turns out it is literally a fatal disease.3 points

Did Steve Bruce feature at all? What’s criminal is those in power getting it so wrong. They knew about it and what was likely to happen well before the rest of us. They were better informed and had warnings from what was happening in the Far East but still did next to fuck all. Even when they’d dithered for far too long there was the example of Italy. Italy were supposed to be a special case due to the links with China through their textile industry and having an ageing population. We knew what was going on there, had more time to prepare and yet we’re on the same trajectory. They’ve shown they don’t give a fuck about the NHS staff, the care workers, the bus drivers, the supermarket staff, the whole fucking lot. You’re just an expendable stat to them. But I fully expect people to be more arsed about Love Island in about 12 months.3 points

It's a family business. If he's not fucking around on toontastic he's walking around the family grounds putting the come hither on any particularly comely young village wench who toils away for his business. I’ve noticed that too mate. Took the laddie out for our daily cycle and it was noticeably busier than it has been the last week or so. Not only more people, but they seemed to be taking less notice of the 2m rule, too. All the lads in the pub tonight had noticed this too, and we were suitably pissed off. People are cunts.3 points

Aye, there might be a verbally agreed deal on the condition that the Saudis fail the director’s test but I think that’s about it t and some papers do want to ride the fan’s anxiety wave as long as they can. I don’t think that something is going for PL approval without a legally binding agreement in place.2 points

The Saudi regime and the kingdom’s appalling human rights record belong in the dark ages. Most on here have condemned it. You can do that and also be grateful Mike Ashley is leaving. There is also hypocrisy in the moral outrage given all the other dirty money in football and business and society more broadly. Ultimately, there is little we can do, as supporters, if they decide do buy our football club. Just as Chelsea and Man City fans couldn’t. I think most supporters of other clubs felt the same about those takeovers - they could see the money buying their success was dirty but, even if they didn’t admit it, they also would have liked to have been in their shoes. Who wouldn’t like to go from mid table obscurity to PL titles and competing in the champions league? I’d just be happy to see some ambition and a half decent side again after 13 years of some of the worst football the club has produced in my lifetime. It’s the PL or government’s job to act, not the fan’s. Which is exactly why it’ll go through. Neither have a history of taking the moral high ground when it comes to accepting cash from tyrannical regimes. And doing so would create a major political incident. Now hurry along before Monkey Fist posts some embarrassing pictures of you.2 points
