From a mental health point of view A&E is pretty quiet atm. Which isn’t a surprise I guess. If you don’t have COVID symptoms it’s probably the last place on Earth you want to be visiting! Keeping busy doing some TLC for the general nurses. Lots struggling and shit scared they are going to kill off family members taking something home3 points

And as far as the general population goes, a lot of that will depend on the fallout. How many jobs are lost, homes repossessed, relatives died etc.... Theres already waiting lists of 6-12months for therapy so primary care services won’t cope with a sudden influx of demand. The slight positive is all of the saccharine bullshit from Boris and the Tories about the NHS is going to make it really difficult for them to fuck it over anytime soon. There may be some blank cheques written to health services in the short term2 points

There will be some fallout as far as mental well-being goes for staff who have been in the thick of it. The trick is trying to limit the damage to low level ‘moral injury’, rather than tipping into PTSD. It’s important for the bosses to keep in touch with staff, give them plenty of info so they know what to expect in the coming weeks and can be mentally prepared. TLC when they need it to manage the bad days. Theres plenty of research out there for veterans returning from war and a lot of it is applicable to the current situation There’s a good hierarchy of needs written somewhere for mental well-being of healthcare staff but I’m struggling to find it2 points

I’ve cancelled my LP direct debit this morning. I can’t in all conscience sit with that set of utter cunts. Some half decent people involved no doubt but the tribalism is nauseating. As a new member I wasn’t even allowed to attend meetings of the local party when they were discussing who to support for leader. This was made quite clear in FOUR emails. They can all fuck off.2 points

If we elected our Prime Minister directly and it was a de facto binary choice between Conservative and Labour, you'd absolutely be expecting most LDs and Greens to break Labour and you'd want Labour to take a hard look at its campaign and its choice of candidate if they didn't. Then again, although there are many ridiculous things about our electoral system, we don't have anything quite as ridiculous as the electoral college, so maybe it matters less in that context. It really does seem like those fabled <100,000 Rust Belt voters will be where it's at this time, so as long as Biden can also shore up the states Hillary won, what's a bit of grassroots dissent in places that were safely Democratic anyway.2 points

An Ulsterman preaching caution & cool headedness in Politics. I didn't think Spring 2020 could have any more surprising news but I was wrong... Best way I can sum this up is that I feel like I've been here before, and for that reason am out 👍1 point

Ok so based on that it would seem that the clarified position is that the report is worthless because rather than confront any of the underlying issues, all it does is blame anti-Corbyn factions. I had wrongly believed that the report had been written impartially somehow, but if we are instead saying that the pro-Corbynites wrote it to attack the anti-Corbynites then firstly I'm not actually surprised based on what I've seen of them in my own discussions, and secondly they're just wasting everyone's time and refusing to take this seriously. They're not in power now so I had hoped the party would be able to draw a line under it but his final tweet says that Labour has been institutionally antisemitic even before Corbyn, which doesn't give me any hope that much will change. I'm close to thinking the party should disband. This feuding is going to drag on and on, and will only fuck us over next time as well. The Corbynite zealots are as blind as the Brexiteers. Utterly hopeless. They're not even principled, just another group obsessed with winning the argument..1 point

No. He’s a decent man but the membership largely fuckin hate him and the likes of Unite & Momentum will attempt to do to him what some staffers did to Corbyn. It’s not worth the bother of another half decade of blood letting just to see the tories returned yet again1 point

I’d say it’s worth hanging in there to see how things progress under Starmer. And cancelling your DD doesn’t remove you from the list of members for a long time. You’ll need to contact them to do that, otherwise you remain on the books.1 point

I love how there’s a few thick cunts arguing it’s been a success because of all the ‘bites’. As if posting something stupid then having loads of people pointing out precisely how stupid it is (including some of their own fans) represents some sort of victory. #mackemlogic1 point

The useless cunts are two leagues away from us now so that's definitely a safe distance.1 point

I don't think it's necessarily about it being squeaky clean so much as having so many Corbyn hating factionalists making shit up and fucking over the process that the eventual report was basically worthless. That's my take from it anyway.1 point

https://news.sky.com/story/labour-antisemitism-investigation-will-not-be-sent-to-equality-commission-11972071?fbclid=IwAR0PlWFBYDPGsjpCGOWQaTnyBWFGMlM1AQ6kRF-So5bhmHv95uroydfBjLI The 860-page report, seen by Sky News, concluded factional hostility towards Jeremy Corbyn amongst former senior officials contributed to "a litany of mistakes" that hindered the effective handling of the issue. The investigation, which was completed in the last month of Jeremy Corbyn's leadership, claims to have found "no evidence" of antisemitism complaints being treated differently to other forms of complaint, or of current or former staff being "motivated by antisemitic intent". So we can take from this that there were indeed people in the party weaponising the issue against the leadership, at a time when we really needed everyone on the same page. These people presumably didn't care about Brexit, the NHS, the country. Just power.1 point
