I thought ‘who?’ But then I felt a little silly when I read it was the fella who played the Lone Ranger’s nephew on the radio4 points

You can tell Bruce was s lying because if it was just a case of ASM having back and hamstring issues he’d have put him in the starting XI3 points

She also reckoned she was doing the half time analysis of Chelsea v Liverpool game. I'm absolutely sure whoever was doing the Chelsea game on BBC spent HT discussing our match, like.1 point

Team is set up well. Does show we do have players capable of decent football. I do never want to see Almiron getting wasted on the right wing again.1 point

Not even Steve Bruce can mess this up now ? Can he ?1 point

Just found it on 601. Shite picture but at least not buffering every 30 seconds.1 point

Lovely goal that, the strength of ASM, great ball and the danger of Almiron in the middle on full display.1 point

Great pic that. They went to the states before the Beatles & the Stones but seem to be afterthought nowadays. Burdon said all the songs were in Price's name only so he pocketed all the cash and didn't give the others a penny. As you say, what a cunt.1 point

Red button should be available as a separate channel up in the gods somewhere (it's 991 or something on Virgin, don't know about Sky or Freeview but it'll be there somewhere).1 point

I’ll have to watch that. Ma Fist worked there and was friends with t’ Animals, ( as I’m sure I’ve mentioned before ) This is one of her snaps of them from 1965, backstage at the A Go-Go, after they’d got rid of Alan Price, who by all accounts was a massive cunt.1 point

What a great endorsement. So, he got to the mystical stages of the competition by fielding his strongest teams and needing four matches and a late extra time winner against two teams playing two leagues below... ...or, in other words, he doesn’t seem to be very competent.1 point

I think at this point in time we can only dream of mediocrity. Its panning out pretty much as people predicted: a season of struggle with shit football and relegation looking likely at some point. We’d be favourites to go down if it weren’t for some jammy results. I guess its better to be lucky than good, which is just as well in Brewceys case.1 point

I tend to agree but I'd like to think some things can be done. What neoliberalism has done throughout the West is to convince people - especially older ones - that absolutely nowt's possible apart from tinkering. The rich fucking love that and it's its greatest "success" - building on Thatcher killing empathy.1 point

Watched the Eric Burdon of The Animals documentary on the iPlayer. Good watch and interesting hearing; 1. His rock & roll American/Geordie accent 2. See also Sting. 3. Silvio/Stevie Van Zandt singing about the club a-go-go 'In the town where the river Tyne flows' was canny surreal. 4. Pati Smith and Springsteen being very obvious fans of his alongside Sting and Silvio. Worth watching for the accents alone.1 point
