It does only prove that the club didn’t sign the player for football reasons. They paid far too much on a player not being suited to the position and role he is asked to play. Not having a manager who could adjust tactics to get the best out of him doesn’t help either.

We definitely toured around a bit on one of those trips with my parents, Teide included, but I remember it feeling pretty touristy even then, which is why I've never been overly keen to go back. I know the Lanzarote resorts are as generic as anywhere else but you've got the Timanfaya side of the island, the lagoons/caves and La Graciosa (which I finally went to on my most recent trip) which are all pretty remarkable in their own way. Will do my best to find something similar on the 'rife, though admittedly the main priority is sunshine, brain detachment and ploughing through a pile of books, so I'm sure it'll be grand for that either way.

Given that nearly half the starting 11 were not here under Rafa, and given that some of the others were not playing regularly either, I wonder if the lucky results earlier in the season, which in the main came from incredibly hard work in defensive terms, something which was coached into them by Rafa, and the downturn in standards now, could be related to the coaching perhaps in the intervening period? It's sad, we don't know what happened to the lad but he's just shite. Maybe in the next game you can point out some of the useful stuff he does cos I'm struggling to see it myself.
