If theres one thing that would make me say even a qualified "well done" to Johnson and his team of swivelled eyed loons it's a full commitment to HS2. Extending it to Newcastle, Carlisle then a branch north which splits at Carstairs to serve Glasgow & Edinburgh would be perfect. But it looks like the line north of Birmingham will be downgraded to cut costs. Trying to run a modern train service on Victorian infrastructure is what is causing the huge problems across the whole of the UK rail network but it seems the south will be the only area to properly benefit which makes the whole project fuckin pointless3 points

Seeing as the Tory party are so committed to the union how about the radical idea of taking it to other parts of the union. Put it in Swansea or Glasgow. Or if you really want to wind them up stick it in Derry for a few years. Let's see how many of the ermine wearing cunts are dedicated to picking up their expenses allowance then.2 points

I am sooo glad that the standard of football has risen this season. God forbid if we were just relying on luck and other teams being too stupid, especially with this dodgy keeper we do have...2 points

Aye, Rafa should have played more in line with the aesthetic standard of League One. That's where he went wrong. Some clubs even aspire to remain down there, just because the quality of football is so good. Even when given a free goal in a play off final, they still manage to lose - just so that they can enjoy the scintillating football for one more year. No club like that would ever sully its good name with a manager like Rafa. They prefer to hire true tactical magicians, like the guy who contrived to achieve about twenty 1-1 draws in a single season. And the bloke from the local pub that they've since replaced him with.2 points

Good news. I think most of us will know someone who has had cancer and its fucking awful Apparently 300,000 people died from cancer in the UK in the last 4 years. That's the best part of 1million people in a decade. That's a big burden on the NHS, pension fund etc. if they all survive. Wouldn't be surprised if the top dogs in the world weren't too eager to find a cure for it. Or am I going a bit Parky?1 point

No worries. 1) If you couldn’t give a flying fuck, do nothing, just carry on with your day. 2) If you live on Teeside and poke Romanian hookers, bang on about this ( whatever this is) for the next few weeks. Done. Option 1) wins by 99 votes to 1.1 point

Knew it wouldn’t take long before that got stolen. I’m taking full credit for finding it and showing it to my mate on Saturday when he posted it after the match. Nobody must actually read them if they’re putting that shit in.1 point

He was playing more defensive for Spurs but apparently he switched to more of a box to box player for Schalke. He does look very mobile in fairness from what I've seen on youtube. Youtube obviously isn't the best indicator, but it at least gives you an idea of how athletic a player is.1 point

It'll be have mainly spent on purchasing properties that need to be demolished. High house prices make transport infrastructure exorbitant in this country, probably the most expensive in the world. I think I've made my points on HS2 quite clear. We've built motorways all over this country which have a much bigger foot print than a train line. But nobody bats an eye lid at that. People complain about the trains being too crowded, then complain about a line that will triple capacity? Bonkers, what a country.1 point

Almiron is class and will eventually move on, same with Maximin. Carroll is an injury about to happen and will never play a whole season. Joelinton ?? "very decent premier league standard" Are you drunk ?? Ashleys record in all the transfer windows is there for everyone to see, come the summer he is more likely to sell Amiron and Maximin than he is to invest. Relegation is coming it's just a question of when.1 point

I think that when Almiron, ASM and Joelinton are all fit Bruce understandably wants to play them. But that system as per yesterday just doesn’t work in an attacking sense. We play a sort of 3-4-2-1. On paper it sounds ok but you have the problem I’ve already mention with Shelvey being one of a two in the middle. We tend to get overrun there and can’t control games and have hardly any possession. Also ASM and Almiron get sucked into helping the midfield out and play as almost auxiliary wingbacks. It leaves Joelinton completely isolated (irrespective of how good / bad he is). We had a better shape with Almiron in the middle in an attacking midfield role when we were playing 3-5-2 in some games when ASM wasn’t fit. Obviously Chelsea are a decent side but they weren’t anything special yesterday but we struggled to string two passes together. Even a slight tweak to revert back to that with ASM closer to Joelinton and Almiron in the middle would help I think. I’d play S. Longstaff alongside Hayden behind Almiron1 point

I enjoy going, quite a bit more than under the tenure of managers such as Souness, JFK, or McLaren in fact. I feel we've got a team of grafters who deserve support. I've got 4 season tickets for less than £600 which is pretty good value. And unlike J69, I have no issue buying a coffee, pint, or hotdog for the kids. I wouldn't buy anything in a Sports Direct shop though or an Ashley brand. Are those staying away really more principled or had they I fact just stopped enjoying it? I suspect it's the latter in most cases. Nobody should do something they don't want to do, but similarly I'm fucked if I'm going to bite my nose off to spite my face because of Ashley. And anyway, whilst we're in the premier league the income from match goers is negligible.1 point

I think the relevant part is below: We have been unbelievably lucky in so many matches this season. Yes, some of that luck has been earned through hard work but it’s clear from watching us that we’re in a false position in the league. Add to that the fact that Steve Bruce as our manager is a massive statement of the limit of Mike Ashley’s ambition for our club and it’s hard to fully enjoy the wins.1 point

Buying a striker and midfielder wouldn’t make us a good team, because it would probably mean changing the way we play. Which wouldn’t suit the other players we have too well. Agree about the squad been a solid hardworking one. Rafa wanted to improve the whole club, which yeah would have taken a lot of money but at least he was ambitious. It’s a bit of a straw man to say nobody else has touched him with a barge pole, he will definitely be back in Europe at some point and at a more ambitious club than us (in my opinion). Fact is Rafa has won trophies at every club he has managed (might need fact checking) and we haven’t won anything in my lifetime, or even been close with Ashley in charge. To go from a serial winner to Steve Bruce is a bit galling me for me though. Those are reported figures, which if true is great. Why couldn’t Rafa have that money? Or decide where it was spent? He said Joe wasn’t worth the money, been proved right so far in my book. We may have spent more than most this season, but that doesn’t take into account previous years of underspend or profit making, so is disingenuous. I don’t think anyone has had a go at you for going to the match, people are free to do whatever they like. Ulitmately I don’t think anyone wants us to get beat really, they want an ambitious football club to get behind and properly support. I think a lot of it is schadenfreude regarding Ashley and his terrible decisions that even us men on the street can see are wrong.1 point

You can celebrate winners all you want mush, I’m sure a lot of the people on here who dislike Bruce did too. The problem with swallowing what is being served up is it’s indicative of the regime, we survive on a whim or a shoestring. You can’t honestly believe we deserve to be where we are in the league based on the showings this seasons? Unless there is either a change of heart from Ashley and he properly supports the team, or he leaves this is as good as it gets. This is the culmination of Newcastle United, aim for safety and everything else is a bonus. It’s not what I thought of when I first started supporting a football team, it’s not what Sir Bobby or Kevin Keegan or Rafa Benitez thought when managing us. I actually like a lot of our players, they graft and they can defend very well and generally are a likeable bunch. But this aiming for survival is draining and honestly drains the fun from the game. Enjoy the win, I did because fuck Chelsea and I’m glad for the players.1 point

aye, they were incredibly wasteful there's no doubt about that. there is however an onus on us a football team to make a credible effort to retain the ball and venture in to the oppenents half occasionaly. i do know i never want to hear bruce ever bemoan bad luck about injuries or anything fucking else for that matter, because he to be the luckiest cunt ever to draw breath that this team has amassed 29 points thus far.1 point
