missed this when it was shown on bbc4, fantastic watch for anybody who was in their prime perhaps during the mid to late 80s and what life was like in britain. the blurb is.... A re-evaluation of acid house, a musical phenomenon that, as this film shows, did not spring out of nowhere, but owed its emergence to the social and political landscape of 1980s Britain2 points

Having said that, Maddison doesn’t play for Chelsea yet so he might not get a look in. Barkley would be nowhere near the team if he played for Watford or whoever.1 point

I mean hardly any of us knew anything going into this vote, so it's forgivable. The primary reason I voted Remain was that I couldn't fathom the implications of such a huge decision - coupled with the fact that it always felt to me like austerity was the bigger issue (hence my support for Corbyn in his earlier days and total disillusionment with Labour under Miliband). And I say that even as an EU federalist who believes in the creation of a superstate It's been reassuring to see, in a way, that the politicians turned out to be just as clueless as us. The EU seem to have a pretty good grasp of how the EU works at least.1 point

Thats the problem, it’s completely attackable and will have another 2 or 3 years of back and forth imo. Over 17m people are going to see ANOTHER remain team put something together and say.. there you go - ta da - there’s your Brexit. Then they campaign for remain. How much shit do you think would hit the fan then? As ewerk says it is probably irresponsible for Gov. to put no deal as an only alternative option..1 point

There is one in Manchester too, all the trolls come down from the hills have eyes towns in their tweed and drink £9 cocktails, just like the real 1930’s or whenever it’s set.1 point

I think there’s an argument to be made that it would be irresponsible to put no deal on the ballot paper. Why would any normal government give people the option to be worse off? Part of government’s role is to prevent people from hurting themselves due to their own stupidity. That should extend to a no deal Brexit.1 point

It's a load of shit. And it was a load of shit before a load of wet arsed dick munchers started wearing flat-caps to weddings and putting on Peaky Blinders club nights. Thanks for reading.1 point

I think she was getting flak because on paper it sounds ridiculous - negotiate a deal and then campaign against it. But, having said that, if you think it through it's actually not as crazy as it sounds. People who are deriding her are talking as if Labour believe they can get a super special awesome deal (the one Leave talked about I guess). Apparently they don't believe that. What she appears to suggest is that Labour do the best they can do to get something resembling a coherent deal that doesn't annihilate the country, and then offer people a vote on it while telling people, quite frankly, that remain is still better than the deal they've achieved. I don't think that breaks any logical thinking. As for your specific point, I've seen a lot of different opinions on this. There are some who think it should just be Deal Brexit or No Deal Brexit. Some who think it should be Remain or Deal. Others who think it should be No Deal, Deal or Remain. I'm not sure I've come across anyone so far who thinks it should specifically be No Deal vs Remain but that's probably just because there is no way No Deal would win that. As for me, I agree with you - I think it should be No Deal vs Remain. Mostly because if they throw a deal in, there's a chance it might win.1 point

The balance is all wrong, it’s true. Way too many aggressive players. At least in Burns it looks like we might finally have found a test match opener who can leave the ball well and bat for time, annoyingly just after cook has retired. We could do with finding another opener cut from the same cloth - I’m still not convinced by Denly at all but af least he has spirit. Roy had a big chance today but the less said about his dismissal the better, particularly coming after all that hard graft by Root and Burns. He may have used his last life. I doubt Jennings would do any better, plus he had plenty of chances and didn’t take them. The problem is who else is there? No one banging the door down in the CC. Do you throw someone like Pope into the middle of an Ashes series? Going to need another miracle innings from Stokes to keep the series alive.1 point

Newcastle United is bigger than a man and a few players. Even, is bigger than the League situation. Yes, obviously, everyone want to win, etc etc etc, but at the end... it doesn't motter. NUFC is a feeling. When I was a child, I liked the team because the colours, the environment in the stadium, the players (Shearer, Solano, S. Taylor, Emre, Bellamy...) but really I started to support the team when I was 16 yo... the year of the first relegation with Ashley. For me, the important were you, the people, the city, the songs in the stadium... this is the real NUFC I feel. PS: And yes... You can support Atletico. We are more similars as a club than you think hahaha.1 point
