Hi guys! Just to let you know that in two days (Saturday 20th July) we're having a panel signing at Waterstones Gateshead in the Metrocentre for a new book called The Amazing Journey: How Newcastle United Conquered Europe to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Newcastle United's Inter-Cities Fairs Cup victory. It's a great book and if you pick it up tomorrow, you can get it signed by the author as well as former player Jim Scott. The publisher is trying to get other former players to come along too so there might be some additional unannounced guests show up on the day. The signing will be taking place at 11am but I'd recommend arriving early if you're interested as we have limited stock and the event is unticketed so it's a first-come-first-serve kind of deal. You can find all the details here: https://www.waterstones.com/events/the-amazing-journey-how-newcastle-united-conquered-europe-book-signing/gateshead Hope to see you there!2 points

would love to see it empty, but realistically what do you reckon? going to guess at 42,000ish although there's every chance a big money signing (for ashley's nufc) will pull in another 3 or 4 thousand. a crowd of less than 40,000 would be a reasonable show of discontent from our support and although not enough to financially piss the fat cunt off would be sufficient to raise some discussion in the media.1 point

Mind you, if CT looked like this, I’d put up with his shite patter.1 point

"Make no mistake, we are active as we speak and hopefully we will get them over the line." we've heard this line before1 point

I havent read or listened to a thing Bruce has said yet barring odd snippets on Twitter timeline that have popped up. Couldn't be less interested1 point

Literally the only way they can spin it. The gammons will lap it up, because it fits with their view of life, not with reality.1 point

If Bruce was your boss, wouldn’t you?1 point

Not a chance I'm getting called late to the party by Johnny Hates Jazz here. Outrageous.1 point

He’s not giving Bruce 90million. Bruce will be given some players that Rafa wouldn’t have accepted in a month of fuckin Sundays1 point

If the 500 teenagers that got on my bus today were to post in here, the answer would certainly be "Lynx Africa and I'm going to spray the full can on myself"1 point

The brilliant thing is even his edit about Ashley finally understanding what's needed has turned out to be wrong.1 point

Aye predicting something 2 months after it happens is very impressive. Hold on I’m getting something.... I predict England will win the 2019 cricket World Cup.1 point

He basically wants to sign a player for fuck all, see him have a good season and flog him. Cabaye was like a wet dream for him, in that sense. What makes him even more backward is that if he had any kind of long term thinking, he’d have invested in the academy 12 years ago and would be raking it in off the kids who would have come through properly.1 point

That would mean he was interested in the success of the team over the long term - which was what Rafa wants. I don't disagree he is spiteful but think he is motivated by more than just that.1 point

He didn't, but he added an extra sprinkling of powdered shit by refusing to actually say "racism", or as he called it, "the 'R' word". Because apparently the word "racism" itself needs to be censored because that's how sensitive our best friend in the world is.1 point

You can thank Sam Allardyce for those points. Those two matches epitomised his tenure here.1 point

Besides, "go back to where you came from" is one of the laziest and most hackneyed lines of attack there is. We already knew the man has no creativity or intellectual curiosity about him, but he's not even very interesting at being a racist.1 point

From Bruce's presser today... I don’t really want to go into specifics…but there are have been a couple of things that have been written. “The big one (claim) is – I am going to sit here and be a puppet. That will not happen and I am in charge of transfers. “It is just like most football clubs, I will have the final say on transfers. have read all kinds of nonsense that I won’t. “I will work hard to make sure I work with the chief scout and the policy is like most other clubs, identify players and making sure they fit in. “I will have control of who we bring in. “We want to make a couple of acquisitions at least… “With the loss of Perez and Rondon it is where we have to immediately take a look. “Make no mistake, we are active as we speak and hopefully we will get them over the line. “I couldn’t refuse it (the NUFC job). I regretted it some ten years ago, whenever it was, and kicked myself – why didn’t I do it? So when the opportunity came, I was determined to grasp it and give it a go. “Make no mistake, I’ve come with my eyes wide open. I understand I’ve got big boots to fill, but I’ve been around the block a long time and to be given the opportunity… I’m delighted.” Showing no loyalty to Sheffield Wednesday and walking out on them: A contract is a contract and it also applies when a manager resigns. “I am disappointed as I thought it was in hand. “It is the challenge of managing Newcastle United (that was my motivation) that was the overriding factor for me to be as selfish as I was.”0 points
