Was just saying to a Mackem at work on Thursday, if they manage to stay up a desperate season will end in all smiles and celebrations which would go down in the Guinness book of records as the biggest known crack known to mankind to ever be papered over. If they did pull it off then expect the wolves game to feature joyous wolves fans celebrating promotion with happy mackems doing the same because they stayed up and sickened the mags, whilst telling any wolves fan they bump into that they're a better team than the mags when we went up and their managers better than Rafa and their fans are better too. They'll probably also congratulate the lads from molinuex saying they're a proper club and bigger than the mags as their last title win was before ours. Wolves will then join the very long list of clubs who have a 'bond' forced on them. Basically any opposition fan praises their support in any way, shape or form speaks for the entire fanbase of his club. FTM

I enjoyed the secret history. The goldfinch is even better. It’s an epic Bildungsroman - and it’s got the lot: tragedy, comedy, death, drugs, crime, unrequited love. It’s a chunky length but I couldn’t be put it down from the first page and finished it inside a few days. Can’t remember the last time I was so absorbed by a novel.

The city is getting into pretty good shape now, we liked it a lot on our brief visit last year, though yeah, we're not looking to live in a high-rise whilst we're there. Chance to get up to Kaikoura and right down to the fiordland which we missed last time, and possibly have a regular holiday in Australia when its only a few hours away rather than 25.

Finally got around to the last two Margaret Atwood novels and they're typically excellent. I prefer The Heart Goes Last as it has a more wicked sense of humour but Hag-Seed is a fine retelling of The Tempest, even if I do tend to find retellings of Shakespeare boring as sin.
