  3. I'm pretty sure if Hawking thought that his death could be used to help the NHS in the slightest way then he wouldn't have minded.

  7. In terms of politics, Corbyn is an utter fuckwit who is generally a PR nightmare, and doesn't appear to have a solid grasp of swift decision making outside of his key principles, and cannot command respect throughout his party. Now that we've established what I think about Corbyn as a politician, I can say with cards on the table that I don't see what it is that he has done wrong here.

  8. Putin knew exactly what he was doing, using this nerve agent. It was always going to be traced back to Russia, so it's an entirely political play by him too: he gets to act like a strongman nationalist leader, presenting Russia as the victim amid the inevitable UK backlash. And how convenient, in the week of the Russian election. He's also managed to scare the shit out of any would be dissident into thinking twice about crossing him - a gruesome death awaits you and your family if you fuck with Daddy Vladdy.

  10. So why not do that? I mean look, we're going to get into a game of tit for tat bullshit now - we'll expel their diplomats, they'll take ours out back and have them shot, we'll complain to the EU for greater sanctions, they'll tell the EU that if this happens, the oil is going to be cut off, and then we'll eventually we'll talk about freezing their assets, and then the Tories will complain that this will financially hurt the Tori--I mean the City of London.

  11. That's another thing, we're wading into a diplomatic row with a country who'll hand us our arse on a plate if shit gets real and the EU and the USA ( ) won't help us out. All Corbyn's basically doing is asking if we're absolutely sure about this which, going off the past is a far more reasonable position than how it's being portrayed. Maybe we can play some Edward Elgar really loud or something. That'll show 'em

  12. I'd love to see Messi up front with Ronaldo playing right back but it's not going to happen so no point in even mentioning it.

  14. “I regard the brain as a computer which will stop working when its components fail. There is no heaven or afterlife for broken-down computers; that is a fairy story for people afraid of the dark.” what an incredible human being, he was. he transcended his field. i have little understanding of basic physics, let alone his work on cosmology, but i woke up this morning feeling genuinely saddened at the news of his passing. a great man who determined not to let his disability define him. he was also for wealth redistribution and warned about the future of capitalism in an automated world "If machines produce everything we need, the outcome will depend on how things are distributed," he wrote. "Everyone can enjoy a life of luxurious leisure if the machine-produced wealth is shared, or most people can end up miserably poor if the machine-owners successfully lobby against wealth redistribution."

  17. So this is going to be the week when Mike Ashley can rightly say he is getting the hang of this football lark? So where now? What about the next few years? How can we as a club take advantage of this solid foundation and become a regular top four challenger?
