Maybe the answer is a 4-5-1 with Gayle. He'd thrive off balls from Shelvey and Merino but can't really play them together in a 4-2-3-1. I do have faith that confidence will return under Benitez with even a couple of half decent signings and results. The problem is making it to mid-January without those things.

What makes it so horrible is that's it's so obvious the lad was desperate to comply. The questioning of the officer and the orders given by him are not only confusing (he appears to mean walk towards me on your knees when he says crawl, etc) but also it's like he's been taught how to make sure he signs over responsibility for anything that happens to the suspect with the script he's been fed. And in that situation the aggressive and threatening nature of the instructions, man. Basically, one false move and there's a good chance I'll kill you. Imagine being half cut and following those instructions under those circumstances? The police culture and the system fucking stinks but that doesn't begin to absolve the cunt who pulled the trigger.
