Not denying it's a problem who to play with the central striker, but this isn't the solution for me either in the short or long term. Diame should start v Stoke instead of the frankly anonymous Perez. Failing that put Shelvey in there, it's a more natural position for him than Ritchie iyam.

Aye I read something on one of the many articles about that game where they were trying to use the sending off as the reason for the loss. I understand the fact they were down to 10 men was a factor in them losing as heavily as 5-0 but they were still losing when he went off. I like Merino on early showings too, certainly can't understand anybody writing his efforts so far off, absurd. Typical yank

I like watching Merino tbf. He's been head and shoulders above Sanches in this match. His positioning and passing is very good plus he doesn't shirk from a challenge. I hope we do manage to make his move permanent as I think he's a steal for the quoted £5m-£6m when you consider players like Tom Carroll and Fabian Delph are in the £12m+ range now.

Think he's good me like, shows spirit and leadership, he got back and took one for the team when Hayden was injured upfield then got right into the refs face for not stopping play.
