jaythesouthernmag 0
Finaly all the bull shit and speculation is over and we know who we have on board, so what is going to be the best team/formation. Providing we have everyone fit what would be the best starting eleven in both the 4-4-2 and a 4-4-3? Here`s mine 4-4-2- ---------------------------------------Given----------------------------------------- Beye-------------------Cacapa----------------Rozey-----------------------Enrique ------------------------------------Butt---------------------------------------------- Milner----------------------------Barton--------------------------------------Zoggy -------------------------Viduka---------------Martins------------------------------- Might replace Butt with Faye depending on how he settles in, Cant seem to justify Geremi ahead of Zog or Milner. Close call between Cacapa and Taylor but from what I`ve seen of him he looks a class act. Also I think Martins offers more than Owen in this formation. 4-3-3 ---------------------------------Given---------------------------------------------- Beye----------------Cacapa-------------Rozey--------------------------Enrique -----------------Smith--------Geremi------------Faye---------------------------- ---------Martins--------------Viduka---------------------------------------Zoggy I`m not a fan of this formation and I dont think the players are comfortable with it. When you look at our squad on paper its pretty impressive and I reckon some of the Big names are going to fing it hard to get in the team and when they do they are going to have to play their knackers off or they will be out again, unlike under Roeder where they got in regardless of their performances. Bloody hell I havent felt this good for ages
Asprilla 96
I really like the midfield we had for the first half against Juventus: Solano - Geremi - N'Zogbia - Milner There seemed to be a good balance to it. For now I'd go with: ---------------------------------------Given----------------------------------------- Beye-------------------Cacapa----------------Rozey-----------------------Enrique ----------------------------------Geremi---------------------------------------------- Milner----------------------------Barton-----------------------------------------Duff -------------------------Viduka---------------Owen---------------------------------- with Martins and N'Zogbia coming on for Owen and Barton for the last 20. @yourservice 67
I wonder if BS will start Beye at right back today?,might be a bit too soon but worth a look at him, especially at home v Wigan like.

NobbySol 22
Well now the squad is complete it looks like there is four guaranteed starters in my mind. Geremi ©, Barton, Enrique, Given. The likes of rozenhal, beye, viduka, smith, owen, nzogbia, milner will play big parts obviously. Id go with this starting 11 and im sorry ameobi no place on the bench for you. --------------------------Given--------------------------------- Beye------------Cacapa----------Rozman------------Enrique -------------------------Geremi ©----------------------------- Milner--------------------Barton-----------------------Nzogbia ----------------------Oba---------------------------------------- ------------------------------Viduka----------------------------- Its looking a cracking side accompanied by a talented and highly contested bench. For the first time in the last few years, we can probably identify our best back four comfortably. I thought if we bought a centre mid with attacking flair such as riquelme then we could genuinely challenge for fourth but it's top 7 for us this season. Dr Gloom 22509
on paper - if everyone was fit and firing - i would go with -------------------------------Given------------------------------------- Beye---------Cacapa------------------------Rosenhal------------Enrique Milner-----------------Barton-------------Geremi-----------------Duff- --------------------------Viduka--------Owen----------------------------
Stephen 0
With everyone fit: ---------------------------------Given ---Beye-----------Cacapa------------------Rozehnal-------Enrique ----------------------------------Geremi ---Milner------------------Barton-----------------------Duff ---------------------Viduka---------Owen Few tough decisions, like dropping Martins and Zog. Good to have so many choices. Edited September 1, 2007 by Stephen
Gejon 2
I can't believe people are seriously talking about dropping Zog for Duff! He has been one of our best players so far and although Sam may be able to work his old magic and get Duff firing again I don't think thats reason to drop N'Zogbia. Offshore Toon 0
If both were fit and playing at their best, Duff would be the better player, though.

Although Sam will probably get an improvement out of Duff I can't see him ever being the player he was.
Gemmill 47034
Anyone that seriously thinks we should be starting games with Martins up front ahead of Owen wants their head read. It astounds me that there are people that rate Martins as a better striker than Owen. It's not even close.
Kid Dynamite 7312
I agree with gejon like, when zoggy gets that ball on the left wing the opposing players shit themselves, and 9 times out of 10 he has a final product with it too unlike a lot of our players

It astounds me that there are people that rate Martins as a better striker than Owen. It's not even close. I'm with you on that one. Martins is one of those hit and miss players, when he's on fire he is awesome but for every game he plays a blinder, we seem to get 3 or 4 where he's totally ineffective. He's a cracking resource to have on the bench, coming on for Owen to inject pace into the game against tired defenders. The quality of our squad is reflected in the fact that I can't come up with an XI where I am not disappointed at leaving someone out...
Dr Gloom 22509
i reckon that if sam can get duff back to the form he showed at chelsea, he has to start ahead of zoggy but i'd say that competition for places down the left side is as good as it has been for a while now. we've got four genuine lefties in duff, zog, enrique and, urm, babayaro. Gemmill 47034
I don't think he's going to have bought a specialist right back only to persevere with a centre half in that position. I imagine that in time, Taylor will be made to step aside.

Gemmill 47034
Can anyone that reckons we should be starting games without Owen up front, who has maybe just seen the highlights there, please explain your preposterous decision? The lad is absolute class. Right place, right time, every time. He'll score a shitload this season if we can keep him fit. And yet some of you would have him on the bench with frigging Martins on in place of him. Absolutely laughable.

Easy now Gemmill, you'll be upsetting the lad if you make out he's missing chances cos he's not 'match fit'
