Tooj 17
The Business and Wonderland arrived today. Question: Are either of them any good, and which should I watch now? Enjoyed The Business meself, just not something you have to take too serious.

I expected to utterly hate The Business, purely for Danny Dyer, but I actually enjoyed it, there are some excellent cringeworthy 80's moments, a decent soundtrack and some good comedy, worth watching !! David Kelly 1217
Pricilla Queen Of The Desert on film 4 last night. It's quite cann with yet another good performance from Guy Pearce. Terence Stamp didn't look like he was enjoying himself at all with the dance routines though.
Happy Face 29
Bladerunner. Finally managed to make it past the first hour, christ that's some boring stuff. Like getting through the Council of Elrond in Lord of the Rings, he just introduces character after character and explains nothing about them. But the second hour picked up the pace and I thought it was canny enough. The cityscapes are jawdropping even now.

I was going to be shocked then remembered you don't watch subtitled films. It's brilliant.

All of which (particularly the French ones) I've enjoyed so I'm actively looking to increase my subtitled watching.

Yes, definitely watch Battle Royale, though apparently you should avoid the sequel as nobody seems to rate that at all.

Happy Face 29
Watched Black Narcissus which was canny but nowt special, then United 93 which was fantastic. Even though I knew everything already I was still constantly on edge and gripped by it. Which I definately couldn't say for Babel. Why the hell are people raving about it? A very flabby film that says very little very ponderously. Why was every scene bookended with a musical montage? I hate it when people complain about the length of a film, but this is one that really could do with at least a half hour taken out of it. Had a few minge shots like, so worth watching tbh. Tooj 17
Unforgiven What a film, a long long time since I'd last saw this. Eastwood plays Munny who throughout the film time after time makes reference to the fact how he is indeed a changed man and "ain't like that any more", the love of his wife being the thing that incidentally changed him, now he's the one struggling to looking after the children on his farm due to his wife's untimely death. It is only in fact circumstance drawing both him and Freeman back to their old ways. This is unlike the comparison with their young counterpart who is only in it for the fame and glory but who becomes visibly shaken when he ends up committing his first murder and quickly renounces the lifestyle. Hackman is absolutely fantastic in this as well, he is the quintessence of all the hard bastard law officer types who have ever walked the face of the earth, stretching the bounds of the law to justify his actions to those who choose the criminal lifestyle. Of course the transformation at the end of the film of Munny was what we were all waiting for and wondering how a man who during the majority of the film had appeared so frail would eventually snap and become the man of old. By the end of the film nothing matters to him anymore after the death of his old friend, he's after only one thing and it's revenge. Then of course he delivers one of my favourite movie lines of all time when replying to Hackman. "Well, he should have armed himself if he's gonna decorate his saloon with my friend"
