AgentAxeman 174
opinions? I for one would welcome him till the end of the season. Albion and Newcastle in Koumas duel Albion’s hopes of landing loan players before the weekend look to be receding as Newcastle emerged as potential rivals for Jason Koumas’ signature. The Baggies have so far failed to persuade Premier League clubs to loan out their top targets, despite concerted efforts to help head coach Roberto Di Matteo cope with his lengthy injury list. Chances of deals being completed before the televised visit to Ashton Gate are now in the balance, with reports on Tyneside suggesting leaders Newcastle have joined the Baggies in expressing an interest in Koumas. The club are still talking to Wigan about a possible loan for the former Hawthorns midfielder, although there are no indications that a deal is imminent. Koumas is one man definitely available, after Latics boss Roberto Martinez confirmed the club are willing to let the former Wales international leave. But there are now strong reports they could go head-to-head with the Magpies again, just weeks after the clubs battled unsuccessfully for Victor Moses. http://www.expressandstar.com/2010/02/18/a...tle-for-koumas/

David Kelly 1224
Better passer than any of our other midfielders and a lot more mobile too. Been a while since I've seen him like.

Papa Lazaru 0
He can't be as slow or inable to pass as Butt, Smith and Nolan, so he's likely to be a step up so i'd take him till the end of the season!
Dr Gloom 21868
creative central midfielder, proven at championship level. he'd walk into our team tbh
TicTacWoe 0
much better than a most of our midfield, only short term though as there must be a reason why he never keeps his place in the top flight despite decent performences.
Barney 0
Creative, but isn't he a lazy git or has an attitude problem? I thougt I remember Megson or Bruce slating him before. loan could be decent though.
Richie J 0
Definitely, he's a good player to watch, especially in this division.
khay 10
Not really seen much of him but from what I remember he was always a bit hit and miss. He would be wanting to start and I think he would unbalance the squad. I would rather a CM (Box to box/all rounder) come in.

Yeah, theres definitely an attitude or mental issue with him as i'm sure i remember spells where he looked like a really decent player with plenty of talent and an eye for a goal, certainly at this level and perhaps prem level but he never seemed to stick at it and ended up moving to another club. He'd certainly create more than some of our lot and would be worth a go.

Dr Gloom 21868
He's already 30 and retired from International football not much chance of him playing a big tournament for Wales though is there? Makes sense to me to sack off a bunch games that will mostly end in defeat for someone his age.
Barney 0
agreed, was more surprised at his age though.

Running the club "like a business", which was widely wanted a few years ago, is signing players on 3.5 year contracts that are good in this league but not good enough for the premiership. Signing Routledge on 3.5 year contract and paying him peanut is bad in your book? Your seat must have restricted viewing as he's been one of our best players. Koumas would certainly improve the team, but with Barton set to return soon i'm not sure it's worth taking the risk on him rocking the boat. Koumas would certainly improve the team, but with Barton set to return soon i'm not sure it's worth taking the risk on him rocking the boat. its quite simple. Signing a player on a 3.5 year contract who isn't good enough for the aspirations we should have at Newcastle ie the aspirations we had under the previous regime, is not "good business". Go back to when we had Milner and Zoggy, and he wouldn't have had a look in.
The Fish 10817
Back when we had Milner and Zoggy, we could get Milner and Zoggy. Should we berate your beau for not signing Messi and Kaka? Your "arguments" are so filled with holes it's barely there at all, any more.
acrossthepond 876
I can see what LM is saying but it's harsh on Routledge who clearly will help us get out of this division, which has to be the top priority, and who might have a part to play in the PL (as a squad player.) I'd welcome anyone who can pass a ball who we don't have to pay for and Koumas fits the bill.
